So you can stay here quite cheaply, and what you get is ok for the price. The rooms were big enough and they appeared clean. The staff who checked us in reasonably friendly. We saw no other guests there, and having decided to leave early the building was just empty; no staff no guests. If we had stayed I think it would have been an ok sleep in a cheap clean budget hotel. If I look at all previous reviews here, it seems like we have lots of guests partying and eating together, with the staff cooking up fantastic meals and experiences. I dont know who is writing these reviews, but it is just different to what we saw.

We really enjoyed our stay here even though the weather was rubbish. The house is such a quirky throwback to another era, it was like stepping back in time and visiting a boarding house/ B and B. Great value for money. We would recommend staying here. - Staff were incredibly helpful and informative which made the stay so enjoyable - Bedrooms were so spacious with a fireplace (that was lit at night for us). - Buffet breakfast was at the bigger hotel next door and was delicious - Shower was hot and had great pressure. - The place is old and so a little run-down but somehow just contributed to the charm. - Wifi was great - Walking distance to many of the main parts of Nuwara Eliya including the gardens and the main town.

We have come to Nuwara Eliya from Kandy & wonder about the diversity of the climate & natural beauty of Sri Lanka from one place to another. The warm fireplace of 'The Trevene' gave us a sense of Britain in Sri Lanka, coolness, mist, & the cup of richly aromed Ceylon tea was remarkable. With the delicious taste of home made Pizzas lost our minds in Italy In Sri Lanka. Thank you for proposing us that good Bordeau Wine which was the cherry on the cake. We have planned only one day in Nuwara Eliya & highly felt we should comeback to fulfil the epic hike of Horton plains & the waterfalls & the tea estates in the hill country. they organize a guided tour to Horton plains and provide a meal at your request. The guidance of Mr Dil who is the owner and the valuable assistance of the whole staff worth to be thankful. The beakfast with typical Sri Lankan milk- rice ( Kiribath) & fried onion curry ( seenisambol) & chicken curry was mouthwatering . Our stay was very comfortable & we do not hesitate to propose travellers to select booking 'The Trevene'.

Cosy guesthouse in a former tea estate bungalow, located a few minutes' walk from central Nuwara Eliya, Victoria Park and Lake Gregory. The décor is more quaint than modern, but my room was large and well-appointed. The friendly staff helped me throughout my stay, giving me advice on things to do in town and even lighting a roaring fire in my in-room fireplace — a real novelty! The bed was very comfortable and my room was extremely quiet so I got a great night's sleep.

Clean and comfortable, but very basic. Lovely owners and ideal for 1-2 night stop off. We didn't have hand soap in the bathroom, and didn't have enough toilet paper. Breakfast was nice but would've preferred to serve ourself. We were brought so much food to our table and we couldn't eat it all so felt wasteful

The hotel is very close to the city center. price performance hotel. The breakfast is average. There is no soap in the bathroom. this is a big shortcoming. but all these shortcomings are made up by hotel employee Mr. Sydney. he is very selfless. Since it was sunrise, he lit the fireplace for us and warmed us. We give Sydney a 10 out of 10 rating.

Très décevant. Manque de propreté générale mais plus précisément dans la salle d'eau. Les lampes de chevets ne fonctionnaient pas. Au restaurant, menu imposé et le feu de cheminée réservée à la famille de la propriétaire, ici le client passe après... seul avantage, la patro ne est francophone.

Des l’arrivée , le personnel est au petit soin, très agréable. Les chambres sont propres et spacieuses avec un balcon. Petit déjeuner correct. Bémol : Nuisance sonore côté route et wifi qui ne fonctionnait pas à ma chambre (numero 7). Globalement, je ne suis restée qu’une nuit mais je vous le conseille, très bel hôtel.
