Comfortable Beds and Clean Rooms: Multiple users praised the beds as "extremely comfortable" and noted clean, well-maintained rooms .

When you book with Primer Inn you know there is always a minimum standard that you will find. No surprises: clean rooms, hot water in the shower, beds big enough for 2 people, breakfast service (optional), a pub/beefeater nearby...
Unless you have the budget for a big and posh 5* hotel, just a good option to safe yourself some headaches

We stayed in a family room (my husband and I, plus our two children who are six and three). The room was not big enough for the four of us. Once the beds were all up, there was no room between them at all - so pretty much as if you were all sleeping in a row in one big bed. The room was extremely hot and stuffy, around 28-30 degrees, even though the heating was off and outside temperature was more like 18-20. There was no aircon, only two large, noisy fans that were kicking out more heat to function than they were helping to circulate the air. The window couldn't be opened more than a crack due to security reasons, so there was zero air in there. And to make matters worse, the bathroom extractor fan didn't work, so as soon as you had a shower this added to the heat and humidity in the room. Before we checked-out I also noticed that the bulb in the lamp on the desk was broken which could have been quite dangerous. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this as a place to stay for young families.

We booked this hotel the night before visiting Paultons park with our children, thinking we’d drive down, have a nice sleep and be well rested for our special trip the next day. How wrong were we!!! On arrival, we entered the room and I can only describe it as getting off a plane in the most hot and humid country…. Our attempts at using the fans to cool the room down failed as they were both old and dusty and only aggravated my asthma…. My children finally managed to fall asleep at 10pm, but my 4 year old son woke at 11pm sweaty, roasting hot and proceeded to vomit a few times over the course of the next few hours due to the unbearable room temperature… you literally couldn’t breathe! Because of this, none of us got any sleep for the rest of the night and it totally ruined our trip the next day as we were all tired and run down. There was no explanation for the room being as hot as it was as it had only been 23 degrees that day and when you stepped outside it was a very cool relief! When I told reception on check out the lady gave me the impression this is a common problem. I have complained to guest services and hope to receive a refund if I’m honest. The worst night we have ever spent in a hotel, absolutely awful, wouldn’t step foot in there again! Avoid!

Came to stay here from Guernsey when my mum was transferred by emergency helicopter to Southampton Hospital Can't thank the staff enough for the compassoon and understanding they showed me on learning about my trip A 'quieter ' room was also found gor me ad they knew i needed rest at night. They located a phone charger for me when I realised I had left mine at a previous hotel. Each day I was asked how Mum was and that meant such a lot at my time of need. Can't comment on heating issues that I have read about on previous comments as it wasn't that hot But I will take away the memory of emotional support given to me and will return

The room was hotter than he'll, which made no sense as it wasn't a particularly hot day. Clearly the rooms do not get sufficiently aired. The fan in the room was pathetic, and from the plug socket across the room from the bed, it was not powerful enough for the breeze to hit us as we lay melting, and most definitely not sleeping. I attempted to address this with reception, but no one was there when I went. I can say with confidence that this was the worst night of my life and the worst Premier inn I have ever stayed at. Usually I would not hesitate to book, having been met with high standards elsewhere in the country. This one however should be avoided at all costs in the summer, unless they get air-conditioning fitted! 28.5°c is not a comfortable sleeping temp. We know it was this, as we went out and bought batteries for the wall thermometer to see if it was air con. Our 2 rooms both had no batteries in the device, suggesting that the hotel did not want people to know what temp it was.

Did not have a good sleep at all and your staff gave a sarcastic response when we advised them. I get there is no air conditioning, but at least give a fan that works or allow us to open a window more than an inch. Felt like we were sleeping in a hot box!!

We stayed one night on Wednesday 2 July as going on a cruise from Southampton the next day. We have stayed before and always comfortable and clean room and bathroom. Reception staff efficient and made polite conversation. The only downside is having to pay parking now.
