The baths were amazing! It's fun to visit the outdoor baths in Nozawa Onsen, but if you want to relax in the water, the baths at the inn were great. They were made of wood, had a nice atmosphere, and were kept clean. The food was also amazing. There was a separate dining room, and we enjoyed our meals in a relaxed atmosphere.

First time to visit Nozawa Onsen area, Roykan Sakaya is good, surrounding area is nice. Hotel staffs are helpful. We had a great time at the hotel.

I stayed in a Japanese-style twin room overlooking the garden. The large communal bath is a privately-sourced sulfur spring. There is also a reclining bath, so you can relax. Breakfast and dinner are served in a private room in the dining area. The Shinshu Premium Beef Shabu-Shabu was sweet and very delicious.

My husband and I stayed here while snowboarding in Nozawa Onsen for our honeymoon. We absolutely LOVED our stay at Ryokan Sakaya. The staff was so friendly, helping us via email with questions before we arrived and always being available for help during our stay. The location is perfect, easily walkable to the town and the ski resort. We can't wait to stay here again someday!

Second time staying at SAKAYA after a few years, service is still from the heart. This ryokan is super busy and the dates we wanted was full. So we explored another mountain (Myoko) for 3 days before coming to Nozawa. Conveniently located with plenty of restaurants around and Yu-Road is just at the corner. A perfect ski holiday starts here. We find the terrains here more suited to our family than the Akakura onsen ski resort.

As the hot springs are known for, you can choose from hot to slightly lukewarm water depending on your preference. Because it's a sulfur spring, your ring will turn black, so it's best to remove it before entering. To drink hot springs, drink hot water. The food is carefully prepared with a focus on local ingredients. There weren't that many types of alcohol, but they matched well with the food. Speaking of greed, I think Nagano has a lot of delicious sake, so it would be nice to have more types of sake. In a sense, it's an inn that doesn't feel like a business. You can be satisfied with the reasonable price. Although most of the staff were from other countries, I felt that they had been thoroughly trained in Japanese hospitality. My wife was impressed, but I found it a little funny. Thank you.

Gem in Nozawa. One of the best ryokan in Nozawa. Professional top quality staff. Breakfast and dinner (optional) are served on the second and third floor. English speaking staff available. A showcase of Japanese hospitality.  We had the kaiseki dinner and shabu shabu dinner at the ryokan which was excellent.  Within the ryokan, there are single sex indoor and outdoor onsen (with sauna facility) and also a private onsen for reservation. The ryokan is in the middle of Nozawa village, with a short main street of shops and many free public onsens. There are a few hot steam buns stores and also multiple craft beer joints.  From the ryokan, walk 3-5 minutes up a steep hill to reach the moving walkway up the ski hill. Very convenient.  From Nozowa village bus station, there is a free shuttle bus which can bring you to five different ski resorts around town.  Ryokan Sakaya is highly recommended and early reservations are necessary
