L'Heure Bleue

I was at this hotel with a group. The room I stayed in was small with a king size bed. I did not have a Television or Wi-Fi. The bed was surrounded with mosquito netting which a staff member came to put in place at night. There was a safe, but no iron or ironing board was in the room.

Enjoyed one night, bed and breakfast, in transit for early morning flight to Tana. Very helpful reception staff. Comfortable, well designed room with balcony extending over the sea. Impressive attention to detail, for example balcony railings with a sitting space and table; and earplugs beside the bed. Lovely, plant filled gardens with ancient trees creates a green, quiet space on the edge of a busy beach.

This was our second visit to Nosy Be, but our first time for L'Heure Bleue. The hotel driver was awaiting our arrival at the airport and smoothly took us to the hotel, except for the last few miles where the roads, which were more typical of the mainland, fell apart. Check-in went smoothly for the three of us sharing a bungalow. There did seem to be a shortage of towels as it took quite awhile to receive the third set, and we never did get any towels for the pool. The bungalow was spacious, and we appreciated the view of the beach and the water from our patio. We had chosen the modified American plan and were pleased with the menu selections and quality of the food. We ate outdoors for every meal, but one, and were quite comfortable. Likewise the saltwater pool was refreshing after a day of hiking or snorkeling even without towels, which we had requested at the bar. We were visiting over the Easter weekend and had been forewarned that the partying would continue until the early morning hours. This didn't bother us because we had closed the windows to keep out mosquitos, and instead, we were quite warm. The overhead fan and the oscillating floor fan unfortunately were not enough to keep us cool. In a trade-off between noise and mosquitos or heat, we chose heat, but didn't sleep very well.

L’Heure Bleue is in a beautiful spot, with a stunning patio over looking the bay. Two pools one overlooking the bay. The staff are excellent and service was very good. The food was first class. I had the garden budget unit, but there are lovely chalets overlooking the bay. Edith at reception, the Manager and the owner went out of their way to accommodate me due to a flight cancellation. Thanks to the hotel for looking after me

Best place to stay in Madirokely - at the quiet end of the ***** beach, and with a large elevated deck that gives amazing views of the all the activity in the bay. We had a beach bungalow (8) and while it was smallish, with no air con, the ceiling fan and freestanding fan kept us from overheating during the night. Bungalows are rustic, and you may get a gecko or 2 inside, however the grounds are beautiful, all very well cleaned and serviced, and the saltwater infinity pool plus the 2nd pool, make this an awesome place to stay. Excellent food and cocktails in the reataurant and the Manager Marika personally made us feel welcome. Highly recommended.

Not sure why the negative reviews but each to their own. We unfortunately only stayed two nights at the start of a two week break and was the best easily out of the 4 hotels we stayed at. We were in room 6 overlooking the beach and near the pool/restaurant. The food was 5 star as well as the service. Most of the staff spoke English which was a help and always had a smile. The surroundings are surreal and well kept. The room was on the smaller side but cosy, not too hot and had a nice terrace. After leaving for another hotel which was completely opposite, tried to re-book but it was unfortunately full. The location is the best on the island as not only by the beach but a short walk to town. There is a party on Sundays and they even give you ear plugs which is cute. The negative reviews may have been a while ago and I would highly recommend staying at l'heure bleu as we are fussy and could not find a fault. Shame we left early, if we knew then what we know now we would have stayed 2 weeks within a heart beat.
