5/5! I was initially a little skeptical to book here but it was really such a perfect spot. Large rooms, clean and had a kitchenette. The location is unbelievable! Just a short walk and you are at playa Guiones! We rented surfboards across the street and were able to store them easily on premises. This location is also ideal to visit the farmers market which is held every Tuesday and has a lot of local artisans! The breakfast at Al chile every morning was a huge perk! The food was delicious. Our kiddo loved the pancakes , and the burrito and guanacasteco breakfast were so good too!!

Really love Sunset Shack and the perfect start to our holiday. Nice pool area which was genuinely quiet. Very close to beach. Rooms were also nice with a really large and comfortable bed. Breakfast was also great. Would recommend.

Although on the main street, it is tucked away with a lot of space and very comfortable. A five minute walk to the beach. One can explore the area completely on foot. I especially appreciated that Tica massage was 30 seconds from my front door! I loved that there were two doors in the room, which allowed a crossbreeze, lots of light and a sweet little patio to sit and read.

Quiet, lots of monkeys, close to harmony, farmers market and beach. Comfortable lines, nice mini bar with cold drinks daily in the room. Tico massage right across the street.

Had a great stay at the Sunset Shack! Check-in was seamless, and the staff was super responsive via WhatsApp. The free breakfast is awesome—you can order straight off the full menu (breakfast burrito, granola bowl, pancakes, fresh OJ, coffee, etc.), and everything was delicious. The location is amazing—you can’t get much closer to the beach, and it’s easy to go back and forth throughout the day. The rooms had strong WiFi, AC, and were quiet at night. Daily housekeeping was a nice touch. The pool doesn’t get much sun during the day but was a relaxing spot to hang out before dinner. Harmony across the street was a fantastic dinner option, and we appreciated the yoga discounts there too. Reception was super helpful—they assisted with cash and booking tennis reservations, which made things easy. The only downside is that the rooms are pretty dark during the day, but the quiet pool made up for it. Would definitely stay here again!

Great option for beach stay in CR Location is excellent. The whole staff were great. Breakfast was special too. Parking lot very convenient.
