Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge

We try to go to Ruttger's Birchmont Lodge's Restaurant and Bar once per week during the summer and the experience is always the same....wonderful! Often have the Walleye sandwich and it never disappoints. Last week I ordered their Cobb Salad with chicken and was only able to eat 1/3 of the huge offering and had two more meals with it at home. From Doug and the gang in the bar to Carrie and Mark the owners...they let you know that they are glad you stopped. It is always fun to watch Reggie (beautiful puppy) waiting for someone to play pool with him. If you get the chance, give them a try!

We've stayed here a few times over the years. First the good: the grounds are beautiful. Right on the lake. Large trees. Main lodge is fantastic in the communal areas/dining room. Staff is polite and attentive. The bad: the cabins are EXTREMELY dated and simply worn out. Broken fixtures. Leaking doors. Antique (but not in a good way) appliances. Lots of rot. Questionable cleaning. The indoor pool is straight up disgusting. The main lodge rooms are slightly better, but not much. Overall, location is great. Resident doggos are adorable. Everything else is decrepit and for the price, I'd probably avoid this place.

Oldest resort in Minnesota. Multiple options for long or short stays. Beautiful lake views. We have a balcony off our room to enjoy. We are gaining info for return visits.

Clean, quiet, our favorite.

We had a 2nd floor room and there were people above us on the 3rd floor. Their floor was very creaky and they were up very late. It was hard to sleep. Next time i'll get a 3rd floor room. Breakfast was great and the staff was awesome. Very helpful.

i’ve never been here before, so I did not know what I was getting myself into. I was under the impression that it was more cabinet like and it wasn’t where we were placed was in a motel type of place. I was under the impression that there was a sliding door that went right out to the lake. Well there was but we’re on the second floor so you only had like a patio I guess so that was a little bit disappointing and then it snowed so we’re outside trying to haul all this luggage up to the second floor on the slippery ass steps and then I thought it would be more modern. I kind of felt like I was gonna get murdered, but I didn’t. It seemed very safe. It just looked really old. I guess, but it was clean and staff were super awesome. The continental breakfast was pretty nice. Actually we were the only ones in there so it was kinda nice just having that peacefulness there was waffles which were amazing and then eggs and muffins and juices and milk and coffee. It was really nice. Actually it all in all I would recommend this place to somebody if you’re looking just to get away nothing bougie just basic. It was nice.
