Siglo Hotel by Keahotels

While initially promising, Siglo is not recommended for most types of tourists visiting the area. If you are into something superfluous and party-oriented in nice surroundings, you have found your place. However, if you are looking something calming, cozy or romantic, to enjoy the classic beauty of the mountains and the fjord, Siglo is to be avoided. Most importantly, they promote a “relaxing environment”. Far from this, when heading to the external hot tub, we found a group of semi-drunks and loud disco music from 1-meter high speakers with subwoofers, which would fit a party in Cancun. The hotel personnel, which was aware, could not care less and of course it was impossible to use the “relaxing” hot tub area. Furthermore, the room category we opted for was advertised as having “upgraded amenities”, including a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and bath products from Molton Brown Organics; however neither was present. Regarding breakfast, this was indifferent in terms of both quality and variety, offering nothing above an average Icelandic hotel. It was not bad, but it was actually not better than any other breakfast in a 15-room family-run motel anywhere else in Iceland. Besides, for a hotel supposedly supporting ecological values and local products and located in an area renowned for herring fishing, it is notable that its breakfast features avocados but zero herring. The personnel in the reception was not unpleasant. The servers in the breakfast area were efficient in their core tasks but not exactly welcoming (e.g. no “good morning” unless prompted). On the positives, credit where it is due: the bed is large and comfortable, and the surrounding nature and views from the room are stunning; however, both can be found elsewhere in much calmer and honest places.

It was our second time staying in this hotel, and as usual, everything was perfect! Thank you to all personnel at the hotel.

A fantastic luxury hotel in Siglufjörður, great for romantic getaways! Situated by the harbor and has amazing hot tub and sauna.

We did have great stay. Friendly staff. Very clean room and the building is fantastic. The quality of the breakfast and selection was very good.
