Only stayed the one night in a cottage room with a view of the river. The room and en suite were clean and the bed was really comfy. The food at the restaurant was excellent.

I booked the Garden Suite for a surprise 60th birthday celebration for my wife, bit risky but happy to say it went perfectly. From beginning to end the staff at the Priest House have exceeded my expectations. I cannot call out one person, everyone I have had dealings with have been so helpful and offered advice on how to arrange certain elements of the event. The staff on the day were absolutely first class with outstanding customer service throughout. The room was perfect for our party, the buffet food was fresh, no curled sandwiches, no cold chips, if the food was meant to be warm, it was warm. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for a special celebration. Thank you all for making my wife’s special birthday special.

We haven't stayed at the hotel so we are reviewing the food. A stunning location but the food doesn't match up sadly. Decidedly average and the Sunday lunch was lukewarm which spoilt it. We may give it another go but know better places quite honestly

Absolutely beautiful. Location was perfect. I Went for afternoon tea witha friend. The bread was so soft and fresh and a great selection of little cakes, also really fresh and tasty. The scone was so light with proper clotted cream. We had a latte as we didnt want the tea and when we requested a second one it was bought out. The young girl who served us was so lovely and polite. I really cannot complain about any of it. The room where we was served was very nice and very comfortable chairs. I 100% would visit again and would highly recommend this venue.

We love this place spent our wedding night here 15 years ago and have been itching to go back. We stayed in a cottage room, room 18. Wear and tear will always happen but in a hotel of this stature some of the wear and tear is not acceptable. The cottages from the outside do look run down with rendering falling off windows in need of repair and painting. And the back stairs to the upper floors need cleaning up. Our room was clean...basic but not the cosy and comfortable room it was advertised as. The window was rotten and didnt close properly. Mould and broken tiles in the bathroom and a broken extractor fan...it wasn't horrible but it was rough around the edges. The mattress was uncomfortable you could feel the springs. Tv was available but only with free view, even the premier inns offer smart TV s so you can access prime...netflix. The outside bar seating needs a Good clean and Ash trays left out full of nub ends and covered in cobwebs so not just from the day. Inside the bar and the restaurant for breakfast was nice and clean. The menu choices were not great, expensive but the food we had was really good. They could do with a better choice of light bites. Staff were all very polite and efficient. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We don't expect the world but such a hotel has standards it needs to live up to if you are paying premium rates you expect premium. Everything I've said here i have written on the review cards are the hotel. We would love to go back again but as it is currently a premier inn would be cheaper and better.

We chose the Priest House hotel for a large family gathering and it was the perfect venue. Everyone found it easy to get to from different regions of England, and although it's close to the motorway and the airport, you really can't tell as you drive down the steep little lane past Donington Park. The hotel is at the end of the lane between the river Trent and a tributary, so it feels very rural and secluded. It has a real sense of history too, being so close to the old mill wheels that still sit on the riverside. The staff were always friendly and helpful while I was organising our event, and just as supportive and receptive to our needs on the day of the gathering. The Garden Suite where we held our meal and entertainment was perfect, with its own bar and little dancefloor and access to a private area of the gardens. The food and drink were good quality. Our bedroom was in the old cottages just across the lane so I don't know what rooms in the main building are like. Ours was a bit dated but had everything we needed. The main thing I would suggest it needs is some hooks / rails in the ensuite for towels and more sockets in the bedroom for charging phones etc - small things that so many hotel rooms could do with more of! The cottages are clearly old and small so noise does carry - if you're bothered about noise from other rooms the main building is perhaps more soundproof.

Went for Sunday Roast for Mum’s 82nd Birthday. Very welcoming and attentive. Food was lovely and we had a great lunch. All cooked very well and hot. Extra gravy and cauliflower cheese was included. Jug of iced water on the table, good attention to detail.

We were in room 46. It was awful. It was very brown, dark and dismal. Tatty and down at heel.. See photos. Evening meal was eaten in a bar area at the back of the hotel, not what was expected for dinner. Laminated menu left us with little confidence so we chose simple fish and chips. Our hearts sank further when half full plastic bottles of tomato sauce and mayonnaise was plonked on our table. The food however was very good, hot and tasty. On return to our room it had a weirdly unpleasant odour so we decided we could not stay there for our booked second day. To add to our misery there was a birthday party that provided boom boom boom noises until after midnight. This was not mentioned when we made our booking, we wanted a quiet weekend away. A sad disappointment, go elsewhere for a better experience.

We visited as a party of five for a business working lunch . We had a choice between sitting in the bar restaurant, outside over looking the water or in their lounge. We chose the lounge and found all the staff very accommodating and looked after us. The lunch time food was fresh and faultless. Without doubt, a hidden gem. We will certainly return.
