I stayed here on business for a night and here are my thoughts- Pros - Very friendly and helpful staff Good decorations throughout the hotel Hotel parking Breakfast included with room Breakfast was nice from a range of the usual to a cooked breakfast it was pretty good food Bed was comfy enough Good water pressure for the shower Cons- Rooms on the small side Rooms could do with a little TLC No WiFi which isn't practicable on a business stay Walls are very thin

Stan, il padrone di casa: accogliente, estremamente disponibile per qualsiasi esigenza, allegro e coinvolgente, pronto a consigliare visite, itinerari, pubs e a cucinare colazioni gustose. La struttura rispecchia la sua personalità, può non incontrare i gusti di tutt,i ma Stan mette a disposizione dei suoi ospiti tutta la casa. La mia valutazione tiene conto dell'atmosfera in cui ci si trova, fermo restando la comodità della camera, la pulizia e il parcheggio accanto. Ottimo punto di partenza per il Vallo di Adriano, Newcastle, Holy Island e Durham

We (family of 5) were visiting the area as my husband had a strongman competition so we decided to stay over the night before. Initially the pub looks OK until you drive into the car park where there is a lot of broken garden furniture/left out bbq. It's a shame as it could be lovely. The barman who showed us to the room was pleasant enough. The family room (two joining rooms which works great) is a decent size and the bedding is clean. It's just unfortunate that there are signs of damp on some of the walls and headboard. The en-suite is quite mildewy and grubby but generally ok. I appreciate the hotel is located above a pub but it's like being above Phoenix Nights when "Ray Von" was playing with the 80s classics pumping out!! The WiFi is pretty non-existent, 1 loo roll between 5 of us and the TV in the twin room didn't work properly. The double bed was on the small side and the mattress had no support. Plus the shower head was broken and the dressing table nearly fell on my daughter because it's also broken. The continental breakfast was nice and the gent serving was lovely. I can appreciate what they are trying to achieve and it could be lovely but either the family room isn't used that often or the cleaners are letting them down!

Stan the owner was personable and friendly and told us stories about the hotel and the many interesting objects that can be found throughout the building. Our room was spacious and the TV worked well. However the mattress protector and thick quilt made our bed too warm and even though we had the window open it was difficult to regulate the heat. In addition the flow of the shower was weak and not very hot either. There was lots of choice for breakfast and Stan made us a very good cooked breakfast. Unfortunately, In contrast to our bed the breakfast room was freezing (the heaters were on!) so we had to eat our cooked breakfast quickly to stop it going cold. The owner was flexible with the departure time which we appreciated. The hotel was a strange mix of hotel/B&B and its previous life as a pub, but for Newcastle it is good value and the free parking was a bonus. Disliked ·

Very welcoming. Ideal for a quick stay in Newcastle. Great value, very clean, nice spacious room. Safe area. No problems parking. The breakfast was tremendous with excellent selection. Either cold buffet or a really well prepared and tasty full English.

Genuinely, one of the nicest places I have stayed in the UK. Incredibly friendly welcome from the mother of the owner (who was away) and the room was brilliant (and quirky but in a great way). One of the comfiest beds I have slept in. Cannot recommend this place more.

What a lovely quaint place to stay in Wallsend, Breakfast area had a really interesting theme. Stan was the perfect host for me and my family, rooms were comfy and the location was very quiet, nice full English breakfast, plenty of parking space would definitely stay there again

This smart hotel is in a quiet area with free parking. The Manager meets and greets personally and immediately makes you feel at home. The whole hotel is tastefully decorated in an eclectic style of new and old individual pieces with a large dining room/bar area, conservatory, and outside patio garden area to the rear. The en suite rooms are large, in the same individual style, with large comfortable beds. Definitely not 'run of the mill'. The breakfast is good. The Manager is very attentive and 'on hand' going 'the extra mile' with hospitality. Good value for money, I would definitely stay there again!
