The North Shore Hotel

The room was comfortable and had what we needed for the short stay. The shower was good and clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I would come back again.

My husband has stayed here before on business and was impressed with the hotel location and level of service however coming with his family was a different experience The tiling in our bathroom shower was in need of repair and not up to any standard It was definitely a OHS issue It was explained to us the reason why our room was not cleaned on our 3rd day was because we didnt place a sign outside our door however the prior 2 days we didn’t hang a sign as there was no sign so i was a little disappointed Great location close to good coffee shops for breakfast

I stayed one night. The single room I was allocated was okay. It was not the cleanest (some dust in the corners and close to the bed -- vacuum cleaning was not an amazing job) but acceptable. The room faced the rear laneway which may have been generally quieter than one at the front on Miller Street, I believe, but it was not exactly a great aspect with all the garbage trucks pulling up in the lane. One issue was that the bar fridge was very noisy and it is right in the room at the foot of the bed, so that was super annoying when trying to sleep. The bar fridge is due for either a defrost or to be replaced. The other issue was that the check-in was chaotic and confusing. I had booked a parking space and the guy on reception seemed confused and was convinced I already had a key and the car space, which was absolutely not correct, because I had just arrived minutes ago from the central coast. That was pretty weird. He was adamant, but I stuck to the facts and he eventually backed down. Had to wait for him to sort that one out which took a while. Then there was another (male) guest waiting behind me to check in, and the hotel clerk started explaining to me how to access the parking space (which is a couple of doors up), but instead of looking at me while he explained, he was looking at the guy behind me. I had to say, excuse me, I am here and I would rather you looked at me while you are talking to me, not the stranger waiting behind me. The whole check-in was handled badly and was offputting and did not make me feel comfortable. I have the impression the hotel clerk is not used to women travelling on their own and may be a bit of a male chauvinist. The desk in the room is peeling and breaking down and looks terrible. It should have been discarded years ago, I'd say. Belongs on the council clean-up and no-one would take it. All in all, I would probably not rush back.

It was close to public transport and a lot of cafes and shops.
