Apple Orchard Resort

Our recent stay at Apple Orchard hotel in Lachen, Sikkim was truly unforgettable. Mr. Kumar and his team, including Shubroto, Wong, and Prakash, provided exceptional care and hospitality, making us feel right at home. When bad weather conditions prevented us from venturing out, they kindly upgraded us to a better room, ensuring we still had a wonderful stay. The food was outstanding, with home-cooked meals that felt like a taste of love. What struck us most was the resilience and warmth of the team despite the challenges of living in a remote area like Lachen, where basic amenities like water, light, and WiFi are not always guaranteed. Their dedication to providing excellent service was inspiring, and it taught us to appreciate the little things in life. Apple Orchard hotel is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience that reminds you of the importance of gratitude and community. We left with full hearts and cherished memories, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Lachen.

Reached after a 8hr drive. Manager, Mr. Kumar sent Puchung & Prakash to help. Fireplace & Electric blankets were perfect thanks to Pratima. Food prepared by Subrata was wonderful & Wangden while serving explained dishes very nicely to us.

Outstanding service and attention to detail. They are very well prepared for the fact that most guests stay here just to leave early in the morning to see Gurudongmar lake. The tariff was inclusive of all meals but given the paucity of any viable meal options nearby, this works out well. The quality of food is superb and the wait staff are attentive. They served us an Indian buffet for dinner with adequate choices. They packed us breakfast to take with us and served lunch when we came back, even though we had checked out of our rooms in the morning when we left for the lake. It is a very beautiful property and I'm just sad that we hadn't chosen to stay longer. Both the general area and this particular location at the top of the hill have fantastic views. The rooms are spacious and ours was on the second floor with a spectacular view of the mountains. Each room has an electric heater and an electric blanket. A particularly thoughtful touch was the staff coming around to each room at night and offering a flask of hot water. I would happily stay here again and for a longer period.

Lachen itself is just a base camp for trip to Gurudongmar lake n a small n tough spot This hotel will sap all your energy just to reach it. After the lengthy drive on bad roads you have to climb up a steep incline n then take several steps to reach your room, this we got even after requesting agent specialy for comfortable approach to rooms. Food is basic but served lovingly, Room heater, geyser n electric blanket working fine

we were three adults including a senior citizen and stayed for 1 night (13 nov 2022 night) and to sum up the stay in a few words...absolutely amazing. u r welcomed at at the reception with a warm brandy shot...spoiled wid the variety/spread of food at lunch and dinner... and also provided packed breakfast (apples, bananas, real fruit juice and a veg mayo stuffed delicious sandwich) for your early morning trip to gurudongmar lake... the service is apt and prompt....there was hot water available in the evening for showers(make sure to keep an interval of minimum 20 min between each shower for hot water to be available from the geyser) and there was hot water in early morning in the wash basin as well... extremely good bed heaters for those chilly winters... oxygen canisters available for buying on the reception in case if not already bought from gangtok (mayb only for hotel clients, not sure though).... a fireplace in the dining area to help u remain warm...rooms are extremely spacious with beds and huge 5 seater sofa sets to relax...we were also provided with an extra bed... washrooms are extremely spic and span... the only place in my entire trip i can say where the washrooms were extremely bright and clean....huge glass windows from the rooms for the mesmerizing views....cookies and chips provided in the rooms were complimentary... i wish i cud stay longer coz we were barely there for 12 hrs.... not sure if ala carte is an option since they provide rooms with American meal plans only.... cons : i) the resort is with steep uphill climb of stone carved steps.. reception and restaurant is almost at 1.5 floor and our room was another 1.5 floor from the reception... i and mayb a lot of them wud have suggested them to pave the way to the resort for a wheel chair... even my mom found it difficult to reach the rooms but somehow managed...ii)finding the resort is a little difficult as there are no sign ways.. iii) it is on the expensive side...but considering the remoteness of the place and no other similar good hotels make it all the way worthy.... even 5 star hotels in the main city of gangtok have been failing to provide such hospitality....so kudos to the team for such efforts and thank you for making the stay a memorable one.... definitely recommended if one does not mind burnign a hole in their pockets....

The rooms are warm and cozy. Room service is prompt. Quality of food is really good. The lunch time is only between 1 to 2pm, the 1 hour window for lunch time is unacceptable, they should work on it. They offer welcome drink which is great but they also should let the guests know that the drink contains alcohol.
