The accommodation is basic but clean and tidy. The staff really make it though as nothing is too much trouble, breakfast very nice in the morning as well.

The hotel is situated on the busy A38 but is not affected by traffic noise. All the staff are polite and considerate and go the extra mile to provide good service The food is outstanding ; beautifully presented and prepared. And it tastes great too! Good bar too which is imp because there’s little else to find a drink in the village. Ideal for short or longer stays if you have a car. Taunton is clos for good shopping and the Somerset levels a dozen miles away. I’d stay there again anytime.

On arrival Sophie's customer service was exemplary, she is a true professional. The car park has plenty of parking and electric charging points. The old coaching Inn has lots of character and internal courtyard areas. The bar is ornately carved with comfy seating, a little dark but nice and cool. The bedroom was large (a suite) but extremely hot so a fan was produced from reception. The bed was very large and comfortable with lovely linen and plenty of nice pillows. The bed runner had holes in though and needed repairing or replacing. The sofa also needs repairing as it had no support. The cleaning was not thorough. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and large stains on the carpet. The bathroom was dated with areas needing more thorough cleaning around the plugs, bath sealant and handle supports on the tiles and the lino. Cleaning was done when hanging a card on the door handle outside, but no milks were left. But no cleaning was done if no card was on the door, so we had no cleaning and futher no milks that day. The suite was to have robes but we didnt find any. The meals although tasty had long waits. The restaurant itself also needs attentuon to detail on cleaning as there were dead insects on the windowsill and dirty sockets on show. The first night was over an hour for our mains, no table service for drinks so we had to go into the bar. The restaurant was not full and we'd made a later booking as advised earlier was busier. The next day breakfast was half an hour, but very enjoyable when it arrived. Toast can be hit and miss, either very dark or very light. On our last night although a large table was booked in our order was placed before hand with a 40 minute wait. However desserts hadnt materialised after a further 30 minutes after we'd eaten dinner so we cancelled them. The staff are all lovely and professional but seem to have to do a lot of different job roles, so maybe there are not enough of them in the kitchen to prepare the food. The location is well placed for visiting lots of areas of interest or as a stop over destination.

What a great stay! All staff were very welcoming. The executive double was huge and was great value for money at £76 and all areas, including our room, were spotlessly clean. We were impressed with the quality and quantity of the evening meal and the good value for money. The ox cheek with pearl barley risotto and crispy onion was delicious and priced at a very reasonable £17. On top of that, the bar prices were good as well. So, all in all, a lovely and relaxed overnight stay close to Bristol Airport. Thank you!

We stayed for one night.. a lovely welcome from the reception/ bar staff/everything that needed to be done person. Our room was spacious but tired , although the bathroom seemed to have been updated. Several cobwebs hung from the ceiling and the carpet needed replacing as it was badly stained. There were also alot of cobwebs in the bar area! Onto our restaurant booking for the evening. We arrived at our table some 5 minutes before time and waited and waited for someone to take our order..eventually a waiter came, took our order, only one of us wanted a starter, and still we waited for this to arrive. Another couple sat nearby eventually got their starters but after eating them they too waited for ages for their mains. Sadly after waiting for soo long for any of our food to appear we decided to go and dine elsewhere. Also based on this experience we decided not to have breakfast. All this rather spoilt our stay.

I really enjoyed our stay. Sophie and Becky looked after me really well whilst I was waiting for my friends. The hotel was clean, nothing seemed too much trouble and the price was extremely reasonable. Would stay again without hesitation.

We needed an overnight stay while collecting a car nearby, and The Walnut Tree Hotel was a perfect choice. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and had the fluffiest pillows I’ve ever come across in a hotel – such a treat! We dined in the restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. The food was excellent, and the scotch egg starter was in a different class – absolutely delicious and a real highlight of the meal. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, with plenty of choice and everything cooked to a high standard. All in all, a comfortable and enjoyable stay with great food and lovely service. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re in the area. Highly recommended!
