Gondell, Ethiopia is the oldest capital city in Ethiopia. On the day of the Lord's Epiphany, Timket, you must come to Gondell. The Lord's Epiphany, Timket, means baptism, celebrated for Jesus' baptism by the Jordan River. Gondar Mountain Resort exceeded expectations and the environment was very good. Dinner lamb must be ordered, no stew. A little farther from the center of the city, but Sanjuzi is very convenient.

So, don’t bother with google maps in Ethiopia. Almost never accurate, and this is the best example- the hotel is miles from the map pin, outside the city and far from everything. Disappointing in such a wonderfully walkable city. However, the trade off is, the view from the hotel is stunning. Rooms were comfortable, food and drink service was acceptable (stick with Ethiopian food- the steak sandwich was horrific). Recommended but be aware of where the location actually is.
