Sleep Inn Near Great Lakes Naval Base

I originally booked this hotel several months ago but decided to stay at an Airbnb due to having blended families attending. I received a confirmation that my reservation was canceled but they still charged my credit card for $120.00. I called as soon as I saw the pending charges and they advised me to call back after 8am on Monday. I called back and they indicated that they adjusted it on their end and would email me the details. They adjusted it on paper but never credited my credit card. I would never do business with them again. I now need to dispute the charges with my bank.

I did not expect much from this hotel, but it turned out to be a decent stay, a very quiet room, and plenty of parking space. I was surprised by an EXCELLENT breakfast for this hotel level. Fruit, chew bars... and everything else for a continental breakfast. The room was clean.

Booking through ******* in April I never received a confirmation email so when I called to change the reserved room, I was told there is no reservation and because it was important to be there to support my family, I made a reservation again. When we arrived, I was told that there were two rooms reserved after all and because they had already been paid for through a third party they could do nothing to help even when I asked the man at the desk if I could get a copy of the confirmation numbers for both reservations, I was told that all it would show is my name. When I returned the next morning and asked the girl at the desk another man came from the office and printed the paperwork with the reservations including confirmation numbers. I will not use ******* again. The room was clean but small, the bathroom had a pocket door that did not lock and was also small. We let our one son stay in the original room so I do not know whether it was better. While the original man was not outright rude, he appeared uncooperative and uncaring except to make excuses that everything was due to using a third party and when I told him I tried to find a local number (even going online to Chicago yellow pages) I was always directed to the number I called and could not contact the hotel directly. The only other staff we interacted with were the ones who actually helped me on Friday morning. But I know I have never paid so much for so little.
