We always have a great experience at The Grange. Sarah and Stewart are fantastic hosts. My son loves Stewart’s breakfasts and there’s always a good choice. If you need anything they try to help. My son had forgotten his toothpaste and they offered to go and get him some (before they found a tube and gave it to him). The beds are comfy and the rooms and everywhere else are spotless. Little touches such as a fridge with a bottle of water, a chocolate on the pillow, a fan in the hot weather, all add to the experience. We visit my mum regularly who hasn’t enough room to put us both up. Sarah and Stewart always try to accommodate us and are respectful of my adult son’s needs as they are specific. I wouldn’t leave him there if I was concerned for his wellbeing. In fact he loves it and looks forward to going. They are very flexible not only with checking in and out but also regarding breakfast times. Highly recommended.

Yet another wonderful visit to what feels like our 2nd family 😊. This is the 5th year we have stayed with Sarah & Stuart and every time is as good, if not better than before. The rooms are so spacious and immaculately clean. The choice of breakfast items is brilliant and includes home made jams and marmalades, the cooked breakfast is lovely, with Stuart working his socks off in the kitchen and Sarah front of house making sure you have everything you need they run a perfect ship. We have always been made to feel welcome and morning is a bother from our first visit. The Grange, along with Sarah & Stuart, is a hidden treasure. We have already booked for next year and can't wait.

Sarah and Stewart are so lovely. They go out of their way to make their home welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast is varied, you can choose so many different options and you will definitely not be going hungry. Secure parking behind locked gates. Come and go. Good access to so many places nearby including Leeds and Wakefield. Close to the motorway so getting there is easy. Comfy bed. Various teas and coffees for each room, TV etc. I feel so safe and welcome that I am now a regular visitor.

We first stopped at The Grange 3yrs ago to visit family & friends. There’s always a warm Yorkshire welcome from Sarah & Stewart. The first thing you see (if you arrive in the daylight) is the garden which is beautiful and inviting, and the old stone house is hidden from the main road so its very peaceful. The bedrooms are decorated to a very high standard and very cozy, with quality bed linens. The bathrooms are shiny and clean, very elegant and comfortable. The breakfast is hearty and delicious, and one can choose what to have the evening before. There ‘s a lot of choice and the ingredients are of really high quality. They always try to accommodate with alternative foods for allergies and intolerances too, so let them know. Every time is a lovely relaxing experience which is so needed after travelling so far. We would highly recommend The Grange if you’re visiting Normanton, Wakefield and the surrounding areas as it is close to motorways.

As someone who travels extensively across the UK and has stayed in countless venues, I’ve never encountered anything like this. I booked this property weeks in advance through a well-known platform. Unbeknown to me, the listing had a 9:00 pm final check-in time, which was not made clear. After a four-hour drive and a serious motorway closure, I arrived at 9:30 pm. I missed an email asking me to call with my arrival time, as I was driving. I called, left a message, and received no response. When I arrived, I rang the bell and was met not with welcome but a verbal tirade. A woman came storming down the lane, shouting, swearing, and accusing me of ignoring the rules. Her (assumed) husband soon joined in. At nearly 10 pm, I was a lone female traveller being shouted at by two angry adults — aggressive, intimidating, and completely unprofessional. I wonder if their tone would’ve been the same had I been a burly male. Despite my calm apologies, the woman even slammed her fist on a van bonnet. I chose not to stay. I can’t speak for the accommodation — but I can say the “hospitality” was anything but. Avoid.

Well established B&B in Normanton - very well appointed. A Word Of Warning - don’t displease the landlady as you certainly will not get a warm welcome. I’m mid 60’s and had driven over 200 miles to see family plus driving round to find the pharmacy - I knew I’d be later than 3pm to check in however I’d rung and got the answerphone, so left a msg - I got a curt msg a couple of hrs later asking where I was - I rang immediately, apologised and said I’d rung and left a msg earlier - that didnt cut it. I got there as soon as I was able, had to ring again at the last bit, as I cldnt quite locate the hse - did her best I guess but she pointed out she wasn’t a GPS. Made it finally but she’d clearly had enough and I was asked in no uncertain terms whether I actually wanted to stay there - she’d refund my card! Didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at that point. Shout out to her husband though who provided a very nice breakfast nxt morning. She clearly doesn’t suffer old fools gladly - unpleasant all round.
