Le Noranda Hotel & Spa, Ascend Hotel Collection

Nice enough room. Restaurant food was excellent, though they should have had more staff working. My main issues were the fans --- the one in the room was very loud, but turning it off would have made the room too hot. Hard to sleep. The bathroom fan comes on every time you turn on the light and is like a jet engine. Way too loud; very unpleasant. The wifi in our room was very very weak and kept kicking out every 30 minutes. I was trying to listen to youtube meditations to help me sleep and had to get up every half hour to reconnect the wifi. Slept very badly on account of these issues.

Hotel is fine. Standard room, slightly small. Shower takes forever to warm up and the pressure is low. Parking is a massive challenge, though, and the website description is very misleading. There is no hot tub for hotel guests. It is just an attached spa that you have to pay for to use.

I very rarely give a poor review but this hotel was very disappointing and we had paid extra for a package. I booked Le Noranda through the hotel for a Romance Package for myself and my husband. The first room they gave us was across from the stairs/elevator and beside a pop machine that was making a horrible grinding noise. When we went to request another room, the staff was well aware that the machine was making a horrible noise. Nice choice for a couple paying for a Romance Package. Then, I guess to make a point, they gave us the very last room on the 4th floor facing a daycare. The seal was broken on the window so it was perpetually fogged up and the carpet was in such poor shape it was bunching. The welcome gift wasn't delivered until much later and had random fruit, rotten strawberries and a few stale ovation chocolate sticks that we had to throw out. The restaurant for our Romantic dinner hadn't been notified that I had food allergies and had to scramble. The package said a wine would be chosen for our dinner from a sommelier. Nope. House wine only or you paid for the bottle. The restaurant so needs an update - the backs of the seats for the benches - you could see the dark body imprints. Dinner was only ok and very very rich. Dessert seemed to be from a Costco freezer box. Our package didn't even give us access to the hot tub and sauna room. There was a dirty rag left in our room from the cleaner and the room had the feel that it wasn't finished being cleaned. Bed ok, shower ok, towels felt like they came from a budget hotel. Seriously would not recommend and not sure why all the positive reviews. Really a poor attempt at a romance package. We do packages periodically at other locations and have always had an awesome experience. This was terrible. Never again and do not recommend.

We had 14 people staying at Le Noranda for a business trip and we received the best service I have ever received anywhere in the World! Nothing was too much hassle for the wonderful team. We had difficult and demanding requests, that require the team to be discreet and dynamic for our unique business visit, and the team at Le Noranda were not phased by any of it and were able to help with every request. Staff stayed on for extra time to help with last minute turn arounds of rooms where required, and always helped us with a huge smile. I told the team this and I will reiterate again, that we could have stayed at top hotels in major cities and not received the level of service we received here. The team were absolutely brilliant, the rooms immaculately clean and with brilliant facilities. The attached restaurant is one of the best in town! I would not hesitate to stay here if I was visiting Rouyn Noranda again. Thank you once again to the amazing team.
