This place is a franchise so I was expecting way more, we travelled here off peak season in the middle of the month. Our needs were never accommodated from the beginning due to poor management and ridiculous rules. We asked to be upgraded to a sea view room because the hotel was empty they lied and said it’s full. I asked to be assisted organizing a romantic picnic on the beach, they offered assistance but made me wait a ridiculous amount of time so I left it out they were reluctant to help me all services require a huge wait time, even simple things. The staff were polite however and tried to help they were governed by unaccommodating rules. The access to the beach was the best part. The breakfast was also good. Will never return!

Great stay at this resort. Location makes it a gem for a beach experience. Experienced a power failure which prevented us from accessing the beach through the private gate. Blinds in the room was faulty which prevented us from accessing the balcony. Overall great service from front office - Maintenance needs attention.

The resort is beautiful in terms of the location, room size and view of the ocean and scenic drive from Durban. Access to the beach is super easy and the beach itself is heavenly. The resort is easy to get around and the two swimming pools are great for the kids and adults. However, the resort has many problems that need to be resolved urgently as these problems adversely impact a holiday makers basic need for rest and relaxation. There was power outages at least 5 times a day which is why there is a gas braai on the verandah of every unit. The shower has no pressure and the hot water is intermittent so my son had cold showers which wasn't too bad due to the summer heat. The service at the restaurant is the worst I have experienced and I suppose that's because there is only 5 people to attend to bartending and taking care of restaurant patrons, not to mention the power outages making certain menu items unavailable. The cleaners do not clean the rooms, they dont even use any detergents when cleaning, its superficial wiping and tidying up. All in all, the establishment is pretty because of the natural surroundings however I wont be returning or recommending this establishment.

We only stayed for one night as this was a short-enough drive from the airport and on the way up to our safari lodge, but we wish we had more time here! It's a stunning location on the beach, and has a great restaurant. Our room was HUGE and everything you need and more. Service was friendly and helpful. Great stay, thank you!

We decided to stay at the hotel on the spur of the moment, booked easily online and spent four really great days at the Anew Ocean Reed Hotel. Zinkwasi itself is pretty basic in terms of shops, so make sure you bring everything you need with you. Access to the beach is super simple, and the beach itself feels untouched, beautiful. The pool at the hotel is where we spent most of our time, served by excellent staff who were allayed great. We had a brilliant time at Ocean Reef and will be returning soon.

Splendid stay
From check-in till checkout the staff was very welcoming polite and friendly. Wanted to stay a bit longer our room was clean and smelling fresh, delicious food too.

Great Hotel
Rooms are spacious and clean. Beautiful hotel. Would be nice if they could have a games room for the children for evening entertainment
