Featherbed Railroad B&B Resort

The ultimate lodging experience for a railroad enthusiast!! Staying in an authentic Santa Fe caboose built in 1949 and refurbished for comfort was a bucket list experience. Add the fine pancake and sausage breakfast and the view of Clear Lake to complete a wonderful experience. Thanks for maintaining a unique B&B and preserving railroad heritage!! Plus a great time at the Boathouse Bar and the Blue Wing Saloon!!!

Wonderful getaway place. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful lakefront views and great to sit on the dock watching the sunset. Hosts are wonderful and very accommodating. Have stayed 3 times now and will be back again.

Featherbed Railroad B&B is a quaint, unique location for a wonderful get away weekend. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast delicious. Clearlake is a beautiful lake to look out and enjoy

We have been yearly guests at the Featherbed Railroad for several years. So imagine my surprise when I canceled our  reservation 7 days in advance believing that I had done so before the cancellation deadline, they refused to give me a full refund. After much negotiation by ******* on my behalf, they finally agreed to refund me for one night. My belief was that I could cancel the reservation before midnight 7 days in advance. Well it turns out, the deadline was 7 p.m. and I missed the deadline by 33 minutes.  Apparently there is absolutely no room for compassion from the onsite manager. I had explained that my husband was having some health concerns and that's why I canceled the reservation. Call the cancellation police! I was 33 minutes late! Oh my! After escalating the issue to a supervisor, who contacted FR again, they still refused to give me a full refund. I even asked to reinstate my reservation in case they would not give me a full refund, which they also refused. I find it hard to believe that they're not going to be able to find a replacement reservation 7 days in advance. So not only are they likely to recoup the full reservation amount, but they are also keeping $304 of my money. The least they could have done is offered to refund the second night if they were able to rebook the caboose. Never again! Our yearly stays with FR are over!

Our visit to Lake County One of the best experiences was to go out in the morning and feel the cool and fresh air coming from the lake. The staff is nice and know how to keep the place to the top.

In 15 years it's changed owners at least 3 times We stayed in Casablanca caboose that was fun. I hope that they get a better mirror/ glass cleaner I suggested Searway foaming glass cleaner. Also a luggage rack in that caboose. Under the current owner they have a young couple acting as onsite manager. They are friendly, kind, helpful but it lacked the probable homey attention we have received in the past.
