Good points: the room is clean, the bed is very comfortable, the breakfast provided at your own expense is very good, and the location is convenient near the train station Many bad points: 1. Very noisy! Every night you can immersively hear the people downstairs drinking, chatting and slamming the table until twelve o'clock in the evening! ! It's very noisy with cars coming and going near the street. Why can't the hotel give us a higher and quieter room if there are no guests? Even though I brought earplugs at night, I still kept being woken up. 2. I basically didn’t see the employees. Every time I passed by the front desk, the employees were not there. They didn't tell us where and what time breakfast would be when we checked in. 3. We booked the first night directly with the hotel and booked it with Ctrip for the second night. When we checked in, the guy said that the room types were different between the two nights, but they had no other guests checking in the next day, so we should be able to stay in the room on the first night. inside. As a result, when we went to confirm the next day, they initially said that we should be able to continue to stay in today's room. However, after waiting for more than ten minutes, they said that we had to pay 20 pounds to continue to stay in the previous room. 4. The hotel does not have a bathtub, the price is that of a four or five-star hotel, and the price/performance ratio is relatively low. In short, it feels like the hotel cares more about running their restaurants and bars and adopts a waiver policy for guest rooms.

Nice hotel, with lots of positives. Good size room and large comfortable bed. Good location, opposite the church, situated on the High St and within walking distance of bars and eateries. There is no parking at the hotel, but you are able to park in the Church car park and it’s not too expensive. Enjoyed hearing the bells. We, personally, found the stairs just a bit too much. No lift (old building, maybe listed restrictions) and on the third floor, so hard work getting the luggage up and down, also just generally climbing the stairs every time returning to the room. The other niggle was the shower. Very small corner shower, my husband had to step in and out to get washed, and I kept burning my back on the mixer unit. My husband is quite tall, but I’m a regular size. It is obviously cleaned every day, but there was a mould problem between the tiles, and I know this can be very difficult to remove without steaming or re-grouting. (room 14). Considering the very large room, maybe the shower could be replaced with a walk-in? Ate at the restaurant the first night, but things were missing from our order. It was very busy, and the young woman who served us was run off her feet. When she was taking the order I just wanted to say ‘write it down’, even though the trend seems to be to ask staff to memorise orders. We did point out the missing items, side dishes, but by the time we managed to speak to her about it, we’d eaten our dinner. The items were removed from the bill, so the problem was resolved satisfactorily. We would have raised the issues we experienced with the hotel, but there was nobody around when we left, so didn’t get the chance. Saying this, if it wasn’t for the stairs, (which I guess nothing can be done about), and the shower, we would stay again. The hotel has a good ‘feel’, and the staff were very pleasant.

First time staying here since the refurb. Went to book in Saturday evening 31/05/25 about 18-45 A sign on the desk asked that you go to the bar to ask someone to book you in. The bar staff were awful, young kids not interested in getting people served but more interested fawning over some bloke taking a picture of a cocktail on the bar wanting them to interact. I have never felt more ignored than that moment. You have one chance to make that first impression and the Kirkfield failed miserably. It really soured the start to my period there to the extent that I didn't bother eating or drinking with them during my stay. Holly eventually booked me in and showed me my room, she was very pleasant. The night porter was a lovely man and Poppy was very attentive when she asked of my stay and I told her of my complaints. The room was pleasant but I'm not sure £117 was value for money with the poor staff issue.

Lovely welcoming staff with an equally enjoyable bar and food area. Stylish internally too, very pleasant visit with family. The ale choice was good as was the traditional style posh pub grub menu. We have added a stay in the future to our must doo when back

Kirkfield Room was OK but noise was bad all night so not worth the cost charged. Could here road noise as well as everything going on in the hotel.
