Having stayed at the Headland on numerous past occasions, we decided to stay for a long weekend as a birthday treat for my wife. Friendly staff, adequate and comfortable room, good shower, and the hotel was obviously full. Breakfast on two of the three mornings was an absolute disaster, lack of items in the buffet room such as bread, pastries, yoghurt, marmalade, compot, Bircher muesli. Long waits for hot drinks, and simple bacon and egg, with incorrect items being delivered. I did speak with restaurant management on Sunday regarding the problems. On the third morning, Monday, the service was a little better, but still slow. During our stay the open air jacuzzi was constantly full with the maximum of eight people, so very difficult to use, during the times we visited. The ballroom was closed for renovations, and the terrace restaurant was also closed in the evening, both discovered after I made my booking In January. I have written to the management detailing the problems, and have been offered a room upgrade on my next stay (if available!). A very poor breakfast and Spa experience at a hotel we have enjoyed in the past, doubt very much we will return.
