Super 8 by Wyndham Newport News

It was a nice stay. The people at the counter were very welcoming and helpful. I forgot my camera bag & the lady called me back while I was across the street at the Waffle House.

Amazing and great quiet clean comfortable affordable

We had a hard time locating this hotel. Our GPS brought us to the address but there was no sign showing that this was the Super Eight. Nothing with a name on it. We drove around it a couple times and finally noticed a glass door in the row of room doors. That was the office.

Good hotel, good service and the location of the hotel was right in the center of town so you can easily access Foo, fun, and activities.

My stay was quiet and that is what I was looking for. The woman at the front desk was nice when I was checking in. As far as the facilities there wasn't too many but I already knew that. The room was very clean, and when walking in smelled nice too. It's also close to a lot of convenient stores, places to eat etc. All within walking distance. Overall my stay was enjoyable.

I booked two rooms after a long trip late at night and we were exhausted. Got there around 1am. Did not want smoking rooms but was given smoking rooms anyway. Bedspreads were riddled with significant burn holes from cigarettes and there were stains all over them. Right off the bat I took pictures. Desk lamp was busted and hanging over the back of the desk, towels were piled up on the bathroom floor, shower curtain looked like someone just sat there putting burn marks on it for fun. My coworker's room was even worse. Feces on the toilet and the toilet paper roll! Unbelievable. His beds had burn marks and stains as well. The rooms stunk like ashtrays and mildew. Our bathroom walls around the door frame weren't even painted. They looked like a carpenter repaired them but didn't prime or paint them. There was one clean towel hanging up with 2 hand towels. I was too tired to go down and start complaining to the rude desk woman. We talked to them in the morning and they told us we had 10 minutes from arriving to assess the rooms and either get a refund or leave. 10 minutes?? Where in your policy documents does it say this? Unacceptable ******* response. I will be having these charges reversed and I will be posting my pictures on Google Reviews. This was the worst Super 8 I've ever been to and it's just a motel with their logo slapped on it. Might as well add the name to the dumpster out back and increase the number of rooms available because that dumpster sums up what you're paying for.

I do not recommend this hotel on account of dishonesty and poor customer service. My reservation stated coffee maker and breakfast. This is false advertising. There was no coffee maker in my room. I walked around the hotel at 8 AM both mornings I was there but the dining room was locked and the lights were off. On the second day I rang the doorbell on the office door but no one answered. When I called the hotel later after leaving, I asked about the breakfast and the woman who answered was impolite. She said the coffee maker wasn’t meant to be in the room, which is a bizarre response. She denied that breakfast wasn’t offered. When I told her I was on the security camera ringing the doorbell trying to get breakfast at 8 AM, she told me she would check the camera and get back to me. She never responded. The room was fine but due to false advertising and poor customer service I wouldn’t go back.

Bathroom tubs not great or clean, not draining correctly, and thick layers of mold and or mildew in grout lines. Tub was also slimy, not sure why. There were a few big roaches running around all over the place at nighttime, but I think they are part of the environment. Kind of unexpected, but I guess that is just the way things are in this area. Staff was very nice and did their best to help out.

My husband and I were unexpectedly without a place to live. We were victims of a real estate rental scam and literally were in a U-Haul loaded with our belongings and were homeless. The scammer took our money and we found ourselves at the Wyndham Super 8. The unfortunate event has really caused hardships for us. But the staff has been wonderful and helpful and friendly and we are truly grateful.
