Good location as we were looking to visit Brighton, Bodiam Castle and other attractions on the south coast. Good value for money. Didn’t eat at the hotel’s eatery as we were turned away due to lack of staff although the restaurant was nearly empty.

The location of this hotel is very convenient. It virtually shares its site with a huge Sainsbury's supermarket, which is approached directly from the A259 coast road. However, we found the hotel to be exceptionally quiet. Our room was at the rear and we enjoyed a view of mature trees and enjoyed seeing plenty of wildlife from our window. The free car park is huge (guests are required to enter their car registration upon a touch screen upon booking in) and the ferry port, East and West Beaches are only a short drive away. During our four-night stay the free wi-fi never failed once and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Great stay!

After reading some of the other reviews (after booking) I was dreading my stay but I cannot fault the hotel at all. I had to email the hotel at the time of booking to ensure that some accessibility accommodations could be put in place and they were great in getting these ready for us. When we checked in I checked with the gentleman at the desk that these had been out in place and he confirmed they were. He was so friendly and accommodating, can not fault the staff at all. Cleanliness wise (perhaps we stayed in a different hotel because I cannot fault the cleanliness) the hotel reception was bright, airy, and super clean. The hallways were also clean apart from the carpet showing signs of wear and tear (standard considering the amount of traffic it must have). The rooms themselves were spotless. Bathroom was spotlessly clean, no dust or any sign that it was used before. The rooms themselves, apart from again just cosmetic issues was clean and tidy. For what I expect from a premier inn this met expectations. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

We've enjoyed staying in many Premier Inns, but won't be returning here. This is not up to the expected standard. I suspect that this was acquired from Travel Inns, a chain of hotels which merged with Premier in their early days. The building itself was outdated and uncared for. Public areas and our room were not clean. The single bed in our room had a stain - see photo - and we were pleased we didn't need to use it. There were some positives: the staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was up to the Premier Inn comfort standard so we slept well. Meals are offered in the Brewers Fayre, a separate building under the same Whitbread ownership. We took the Premier Meal Deal, which offered a 2 course dinner with a drink and breakfast for a very good value price. Dinner was a good standard of pub fare and breakfast was up to the anticipated Premier Inn standard of an unlimited buffet of hot and cold food. Whitbread has closed down many of its older properties and built much better new ones. I hope Newhaven Premier inn is on a replacement list!

Hotel poor, staff great. That's the summary. Start with the positives, all of the issues were resolved by great staff. A special mention to Ashley who was servicing the rooms. She was incredibly friendly, helpful and happy. Everything we asked of her she did without hesitation and with a cheerful smile on her face. Top marks to her. The reception staff were clearly struggling, there were serious issues with the card keys for many rooms. I witnessed several guests returning to reception for help. The first room we were offered was damp and dirty with some very suspicious stains. Second room, supplied by helpful reception staff, was fine but there was no toilet paper! Without the supportive staff we would have left for a different hotel.

The cobwebs were the first indication that all was not as it should be! Then the lack of a charging point for an electric toothbrush in the bathroom. And the heating system is inefficient. Plus the breakfast was awful. There was only one person on duty, the empty dishes were not replenished and it was rather grubby. The bed, though, was very comfortable 😌.
