If you really want to get away from it all, this is the place. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had. When we were there only 12 of the rooms were booked, many days we had the beach to ourselves. The rooms were clean, definitely dated and could do with some tlc, we were missing a knob on a bathroom cabinet, it didn't bother me and if you are the type that would focus on details like this, I would avoid the Oualie. Furniture in the sitting area varied from cottage to cottage, none in the regular rooms was new although we did have a new mattress. Our room had a kettle, our friend's room had a pod coffee machine. Basins of water were kept at the door to clean the sand from your feet although the local monkeys were seen using them too! We did see monkeys, sheep and a donkey on the grounds during our stay, none ventured too close to us. The beach was beautiful, no long walks but lovely to sit at and watch the boats go by, plenty of trees for natural shade and no towel games or reserving of chairs! Like everything else, the beach chairs were old and basic but perfectly fine. The water was warm and everyday we saw a sea turtle popping up close to us. The staff was amazing, very friendly and willing to help, the gardens were well taken care of and rooms were clean. The restaurant food was adequate, to be honest, I expected more flavour, even the curry was bland. Food and drink were slow to come out, do not expect to rush your meal! The bar had live music on Saturday and Tuesday, there were people from outside the resort and it was a lot of fun, on other nights the bar shut down early, we would come back from dinner elsewhere and it was closed. Sunday BBQ was also good. There are not many places to walk to, we relied a lot on taxi's. Nevis has a lot of great restaurants and is gorgeous. It is quiet, not a party island, and is not cheap. It is not for everyone but if you are looking for relaxation, it is a great island to visit.
