Holiday Inn Express & Suites Newberry

Nice clean room. It was quite here & just what I needed for my short stay. Would stay again if I needed to.

I stayed at an IHG hotel last year in St. Augustine a swore I would never stay again. Turning the other cheek I gave the Holiday Inn Expressss & Suites in Newberry, S.C. a chance at redemption. The stay was for one night at the government rate. My son and I like last year attended a NASCAR race at Darlington and wasn't going to pay the ridiculous prices near the venue. I asked the front desk associate if there were rooms available for the following night as I may decide to stop for the night versus traveling back to Atlanta. She said yes and asked if I wanted to book it and I said no as I was unsure. Well we did end up stopping however, the rate was $30 more than just 8 hrs earlier when I checked out. She tried to say it was because I booked third party originally. When I informed her I booked through the hotel website, she had no answer. I asked her if I went outside and booked it on my phone I could get it cheaper and she said yes. I asked why she couldn't give me the same rate and she simply said she couldn't ....puzzled at this point and too tired so I paid it. The next morning I asked the oncoming clerk why there was a $30 difference in price. Initially she acted like she didn't hear me but, when I insisted a response she claimed that Holiday Inn changes rates daily. When I asked based on what she had no answer. Upon request as to whether or not I could speak with the on duty manager; of course he was unavailable same as my stay at an IHG Holiday Inn in St. Augustine. IHG hotels, specifically Holiday Inn brand, wonders why they are getting beat by other chains is simple: they have no customer service, they lack leadership and problem solving skills. Their employees will NOT try and make things right and the customer is ALWAYS wrong. You may ask why the 3 star rating, the breakfast was above average with what they offered and they did change ut up on day 2 which was nice. The room was clean and comfortable and on the second night when the clerk set me up with a room near the highway, she did accommodate my request to change rooms to one away from the highway. I actually noticed on the receipts that the Rate Code was different. More proof as to why the main complaint is their customer service. In this case 2 strikes and you are out.

Kind Community Conveniently available. Restaurants in area tend to close early or run out of food. Everyone we met was super kind.

Great location Great costumer service, location and price. Only one small complaint is that the bathroom could have been a little more cleaner. Tub was just rinsed not properly cleaned and in the sink around the upper part of the bowl was black grime where it had not been scrubbed just rinsed. If I had to rate the bathroom it would give it a 3 star. The room 5 star. Customer Service 5 star.

I want to express my appreciation to the employees of HIEX in Newberry, SC. Everyone was so nice and courteous, especially Jasmine and Tammy. All housekeepers, front desk, etc. went above and beyond to give us the best service possible. Room 403 was very clean, beds totally comfortable. Good selections for breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
