Hampton Inn by Hilton New Orleans French Quarter Market Area

Everyone, from the general manager to housekeeping were absolutely wonderful. They made our group feel very welcome and bent over backwards to supply anything we needed. I highly recommend this hotel. It is steps from Frenchmen St. and the French Market. There are lots of restaurants close by and the French Quarter is also near. The hotel was quiet and very clean. There was a different hot breakfast everyday and coffee and tea available all day.

Very disappointing experience. This was by far the worst stay I’ve had at a Hilton property. The WiFi didn’t work, the waiting times were excessive, and the reception staff were impolite and unhelpful. The overall customer service was far below expectations—you simply don’t feel like you’re in a Hilton hotel. While Hampton hotels are usually affordable, convenient, and comfortable, this particular location falls short on all fronts. I cannot recommend it.

Hampton Inn French Market Area After securing tickets to the 2025 New Orleans Jazz Festival, I started my search for lodging (for the last weekend of April). I think I was a little bit late in the game; the Festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors over its eight-day run, and I had no luck seeking out the smaller local hotels. (I won’t do VRBO or AirBnB, period.) Using cash and points I focused my search on the French Market area. I did this because while I’ve been to Bourbon Street, I have never explored the music scene that is fully entrenched in the Marginy/Frenchmen area. In truth, my hope for this visit was to spend my days at the Jazz Festival and my nights visiting the music venues that were featured in the HBO’s series “Tremé” (which aired for four seasons starting in 2011 and currently is available through Amazon Prime Video). So my lodging needed to be withing walking distance of venues that included Maison and The Spotted Cat; and it needed to be within a few well-lit blocks of the French Market Streetcar operated by RTA ($8 for a three-day pass). Using points and cash I selected the Hampton Inn French Market. Consistent with my other experiences at Hilton brands, my three-day stay was outstanding. I was recognized as a Diamond-level Hilton Honors member, and a few hours after I checked in I received a text from the person who greeted me, ensuring that my room was in order. The Inn is a five-minute walk to the French Market and the streetcar that connects to all of New Orleans. It is a five-minute walk to Frenchmen Street, home to authentic New Orleans jazz and cuisine. What really impressed me was the mural of a scene from the French Quarter that occupied the entire wall of my room – it was gorgeous! That, plus a neat little balcony offered a sweet reminder of why New Orleans is so beloved. The Inn offers a complimentary breakfast service from 6 to 10 with waffles, biscuits and gravy, home fries and scrambled eggs. The bathroom is well designed with a heated mirror and ready access to the shower controls (so you don’t have to step into the shower and face cold water); it offered hand wash cloths (increasingly rare, I’m finding), and there were no little single-use plastic bottles of gel, shampoo or conditioner; I was able to log into my Netflix account, and could (and did) buy a beer or soft drink from the front desk. My bill for the stay was exactly what I expected – no unpleasant surprises.
