We planned on staying in New Orleans for 3 nights over a weekend in September. We were travelling with a car, so ideally wanted somewhere that offered parking and this is when I stumbled upon the Lucky Inn. I’d seen other reviews about the locked gates (and not getting a code in advance) so I was prepared to arrive and need to call. I did, and the call was answered straight away & the gates opened to let us in. The hotel seemed very quiet when we stayed… we didn’t see any other guests until our last day when leaving, and at most there was only ever 3 cars (including ours) in the parking lot. We were told that parking was first come, first served, but we never had any issues due to the low volume at the hotel. When we booked our stay, we knew that the Lucky Inn was about a 30-minute walk to Bourbon Street, but we also planned on using the Streetcar which was ideally situated to the Lucky inn just 1 block over (on Canal Street). The streetcar was a bargain at $8 for a 72-hour pass, so this covered our full time in the city. It really was ideally situated for us as our plans included a trip out to a swamp tour (that we drove to) and to see a game at the Ceaser’s Superdome (again, walking distance or could use the streetcars). We felt safe at the location, and could walk to some food options / local grocery store / etc. Location aside, our room was good value for what we paid. We got a “deluxe” room which had the amenities we needed. I had to ask at reception for a hairdryer which I was given & kept for the full stay. It should be noted that there was not a fridge nor coffee making facilities in the room – they have communal offerings downstairs instead which we didn’t use. Our room was clean and comfortable though which was all we needed. Overall, happy with the stay.

We booked on *********** and started off by arriving to a locked gate with no way of entering to get to a reception. The gate has no communication on it so if you're like us with UK sim cards that can't make phone calls then you have no way of getting in contact with the hotel. Luckily another guest entered and we were able to get to reception where we were told that we should have been sent an email with a code to open the gate, which we were never sent. The staff were nice however sometimes hard to find as there is no actual reception just a bar or office room which they're sometimes not in. The hotel itself is like they've spent money making it look nice but it's actually still not nice. The room had many plug sockets that didn't work, one of which was falling out of the wall. The window shut but didn't lock. There is no hair dryer or iron, however upon asking got a hair dryer and a clothes steamer (which is no sub for an iron imo). There's no fridge in the room, the shower went cold for the last night and morning so we couldn't shower. The air con machine is insanely loud turning off and on constantly. Good luck sleeping when there's people going to their rooms as you can hear everything from the corridoor to your room. The room had a big wall mounted tv that has no connection and didn't work when trying to wirelessly connect to my phone so it's completely useless. There's no ice machine so you have to go down to the bar and ask for someone to give you ice. The only positive is the location is 2min walk from the tram that takes your right to the french quarter for like $3 day pass. For the price which in my opinion wasn't the cheapest, this hotel isn't worth it and I would look elsewhere, as many have said it's more of a hostel than a hotel. 3 star is generous from me.

The rooms are tiny, and they don't have a fridge, they don't have much, the cleanliness of the place is regular, and the positive thing is that they don't charge for parking. It looks like a guest house, the hotel is tiny, and they have no employees, just a manager who was never there in the morning.

This was a hidden gem close to downtown NOLA. Loved the secure parking and spacious rooms. Check in and out was a breeze as the staff was very friendly. I had no qualms about the room cleanliness, there was even a fresh scent to it. I would return for the affordability and convenience.

Th Lucky Inn was just what I wanted - safe, convenient, and affordable lodging. I rented the basic room and was most impressed with the cleanliness of the room and with the gracious staff. Offstreet parking was a big bonus too. Bed was comfortable. Shower was strong and hot. Sparkling clean. Hapy to have stayed there.

The hotel is off the beaten path for sure. Once inside I felt safe and it was nice and clean. Staff was nice and accommodating. The gate in front was broken. There was a big hole in wall 1st floor apparent plumbing issue. Room has no hairdryer and basic amenities. it was a short walk to the trolly. We walked to the dollar general for some pop as we were cruising the next day. People begging outside and that short walk was uncomfortable. I would not walk it at night. We went downtown for Krewe of boo parade but did not take the trolly back would not feel comfortable on the walk to hotel at night. Ubered/Lyfted from airport, downtown and to the ship. If I went to NOLA again I would probably stay closer downtown.

This gem is just a block away from the trolley with free parking, and is reasonably priced. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The lobby area is super funky with plenty of room to lounge and sip on free coffee. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but without a hair dryer or mini fridge. Not unlike other hotels in this area, the rooms are small and the walls a pretty thin, which in my opinion, is all part of New Orleans experience. Hands down, I would stay here again, if I ever get the chance.

A very clean hotel with an amazing staff who recommended places to eat and things to do every time we requested it. It is located really close to the city tram and we could move to the French Quarter really quickly and for a low price.

I came to New Orleans to attend a scientific conference. I enjoyed my stay at Lucky Inn very much! It was very clean, the staff was really freindly and I could rest well and work in the morning or evening to prepare for the following conference day. If I ever come back to New Orleans, I will definitely book again a room here ^^
