This is a review for the museum: I looked around and it looked empty. Knocked on the door and was greeted by a gentleman who was not rude at all, but I was told that there are no self guided tours. There are only guided tours at 10 AM and 1:45 PM. I looked at my watch and saw it was 1:52 PM and said if I had just missed the last tour, he said the person didn’t show up. He then gave me a card to call back when I was gonna show up. I mentioned that this information wasn’t on their website. And he said, “no everything subject to change.” Im not sure why he couldn’t give me a guided tour. As a traveler on the bus, the buses haven’t been consistent because of all the construction it’ll be impossible to come back.

Not for everyone Loved the charm of this historic property! We were the only guests at the time and no breakfast available. Lousy shower pressure. The room was hot, although not unbearable with window AC. I liked the experience, but my wife didn’t. If comfort a priority, stay elsewhere.

Edgar I stayed on the third floor in the Gatson room, the room was okay clean, there aren't any windows in this particular room, tv, no phone within room, the do offer breakfast every morning from 8-10 which is pretty good, there is no elevator on property so be prepared to climb stairs overall great area close to everything, the rooms on second floors are nices and roomier than the 3rd floor.

Do not stay there! My wife and I had an awful time- so bad that we left after the first night even though we had a reservation for 4 nights. The owner was overwhelmed when we got there and it took some time for us to get settled in our 3rd floor room. He said he would retake care of a burned out bulb on the night table lamp but never did. The sink in the bathroom had no hot water unless you turned the valve underneath. The towels were not clean. The bed was terrible- it made noise every time you moved and the mattress was awful. The breakfast was mediocre at best. When we called to let them know about the problems in the room we did not get any response until 11am the next day by which time we diecided to move to a decent hotel. While the history of the place and the art was interesting, I would never stay there again because of the condition of the place and the lack of concern from the owner/operator. I have never written a bad review of anywhere else (I travel a lot all over the world) but in this case I really felt compelled to do so.

My wife and I stayed at the Degas House for four nights and loved every minute. My wife, being a dancer and dance teacher for many years, was excited to be in the midst of so many of Degas' ballerina paintings and sketches. Being given a tour by Degas' great, great, grandniece was the cherry on top. This was a wonderful stay among wonderful people.

This place is really cool. It’s where he stayed in New Orleans at a certain time and does have some of his art there. Now split into two different buildings, you do need a reservation for a tour and the tour guide is actually a real relative of Edgar Degas himself which was really cool. Very interesting.
