If there are any impressionists, poets, composers, child prodigies, pianoteurs, romantic comedy writers, or silent actors left in the world, the Degas House is the place for you. Balzac would find a garret to escape his debt collectors and mistresses. I come here to write and relax. A European experience like none other. The curator and his staff were splendid. Allen Emerson

Degas House was great. Late check-in and late check-out couldn't have been easier and I got a surprise upgrade. Period rooms were gorgeous, and the hit of my stay was breakfast with Akira. Best shrimp and grits I have ever had--fluffy grits and perfectly cooked shrimp. A few details to spruce up, a little dusty corner and a coverlet as an extra blanket, but the location could not be beat (fab coffee shop down the way, a great stroll to the quarter down Esplanade) and so nice to stay in a place with character rather than a drab hotel room. Three thumbs up.

Late check-in was super easy. Rooms were gorgeous, though corners were dirty and the roses on the desk were dead, dead, dead. Breakfast with Akira was amazing; she made an AMAZING shrimp and grits, the latter fluffy, the former cooked to perfection (and people always overcook shrimp.). The location was wonderful--we walked a half an hour down to the quarter down Esplanade, and the architectures was fab. My room was cold--a cold snap and some rain. I asked for an extra blanket and got a coverlet rather than a blanket. A little more attention to details, a little more personal service (I saw no one other than Akira and the tour guide during my three day stay, for which I checked in late).

Loved it! Very elegant. Historic. Not modern and up to date but I enjoyed that about it. The hot tub was amazing. The staff were very friendly. Parking available around the hotel so we didn’t have to pay for parking unless we went out. Within walking distance from the French Quarter. Gas station/ convenience store within walking distance. Very peaceful. They offer a tour and history of the property. They offer breakfast. Only issue I encountered was since the furniture is antique, it’s starting to break (knob missing off the wardrobe and hinges need to be oiled) and the tv would only play audio, video would not load. Overall great place to stay. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
