Courtyard New Orleans Downtown Near the French Quarter

Would not recommend this hotel. Courtyard is usually my go-to but this was awful, rooms smelled bad, tour rebooked us. Customer service was poor. Tried 3 rooms and all were bad and TINY. Windows look into hotel interior. Needs a gut renovation. Location is good but that’s it!

I chose this hotel because of its location near Canal and the availability of valet parking. The room was great with comfortable beds and a terrific 5th floor view looking down on St. Charles. This hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy collection and is geared toward business travelers, so there’s no pool or hot tub, but there is a good fitness center with 5 or 6 treadmills, a bike and weights. The slide out rolling desk is convenient. Sadly, the free WiFi for Marriott reward members has a low bandwidth and is sluggish. If you have important business meetings, upgrade to the paid internet. The front desk staff is very helpful. When I reported a broken ice machine, she promptly made a note for maintenance and thanked me for letting them know. St. Charles is undergoing construction in front of the hotel and the streetcar wasn’t running along this part of St. Charles. There are several vacant buildings across from the hotel. The front desk offered good advice on the location of a parking lot if we didn’t want valet parking. Self-parking, however, costs for each time in and out, so we chose valet. They took good care of my car during our five-day stay. Verify your check-out invoice. Mine had errors, but fortunately the auditor caught the errors and emailed a corrected statement before I had to call.

Loved the location. Easy walk to the Quarter without all the craziness. Clean and quiet. Check in was easy and quick. The hotel could probably use an upgrade but for me it is a good value that checks all the most important boxes. Road construction right now in front of the entrance but it wasn’t a problem. Take a short walk down St. Charles to the Streetcar Cafe and enjoy an excellent meal and happy hour.
