This Homewood Suites has been our family's go-to hotel in the north Wilmington area for 20+ years. When our boys were little, the four of us shared one suite; now that the boys are adults, we use two suites. As usual, our recent stay was pleasant and uneventful. All the staff members (front desk and breakfast) were very friendly and professional. Our rooms were both fine. We had a couple of very minor gripes, but they did not detract from the overall pleasant experience. The breakfast was good as usual. Our boys were disappointed that the waffle maker had been replaced by pre-packaged waffle-shaped pastries, but they got over it. I brought a Mac laptop which has a very heavy "power brick". Some of the outlets in our room were not able to support the weight of the power brick, so it fell out. Fortunately I found an outlet that worked fine. Our boys said the free wi-fi seemed slow. I thought it was fine, but my usage was basic while they are power users. There is a premium wi-fi option that maybe is faster, but once you select the free wi-fi at initial sign-on, there does not seem to be a way to upgrade to the premium. I found the thermostat a little frustrating. The weather outside was chilly. We like to have our room cool at night; when I tried to lower it, I could not get it to go below 69. The room stayed comfortable overnight, so it was not really a problem. In summary, we were satisfied with our visit, and will probably stay here again the next time we are in the area.
