This is a family-run hotel in what looks like a small apartment block. The décor and fittings are functional if a little dated, and the buffet breakfast with waiter-served scrambled eggs and beverages is of a high standard. It has its own private parking round the back and a pedestrian footpath into the city centre, which is only a few hundred metres away. The only drawbacks were that my room was very warm – it had been a hot and humid weekend, but the problem was easily solved by opening the large windows and keeping them open all night! The other was that there is no lift, so you need to the negotiate the stairs, which can be tricky with large or heavy bags. On balance, a much nicer stopping off point for international travellers than a motorway hotel.
