I had booked weeks ahead of time, when I arrived in the afternoon, I was told I needed a passport to check in, my driver's licence wasn't good enough, I am an Australian citizen . I asked the manager to show me where it stated anywhere on their site that a passport was needed, well he couldn't. So then I had to try and find somewhere else 4pm in the afternoon. I will not be letting this slide either.

Nomads Magnetic Island is fantastic! It offers a true island vibe with cozy sleep huts and plenty of outdoor space to relax. The bus stop right in front makes it easy to explore the island. The showers are warm and spacious. This is definitely one of the best hostels I've stayed in!

This place has a great potential but it’s terribly kept.
Loud music all of the time in the common area (REALLY LOUD). I had to work and I couldn’t find a quiet spot in the whole hostel where I could work from. The Wi-Fi is terrible and in the room it’s even worse (and there’s no signal so I couldn’t even use data).
The place is dirty. Staff at the reception is sweet and nice but you can really tell that there is no one who is really taking care of the business with care.
The main purpose is to sell alcohol at nights to young backpackers to make profit and they don’t really care about other types of travellers.
In the dorm it was freezing and I had no blanket, just a sheet. In addition two guys started fighting because they were probably drunk.
The hostel is far away from literally everything. There’s no supermarket nearby (you have to walk 40mins) and the bus runs just a few times a day.
Perks: it’s on a very nice beach, the huts are literally by the sea and the swimming pool is very nice too. Laundry service is easy to use (with card) and soap is included.
Overall I didn’t like it and would never recommend it to a friend. Maybe I’m not their target.

Great atmosphere at this beachfront hostel. Food is great and drinks are reasonable. Party atmosphere at night with games to get the crowd going. DJ has the place bouncing during and after the games. Easy and cheap bus access to ferry and local beauty spots. Car hire available from reception if you want to drive yourself around this island.

Disappointed and Dirty
I recently stayed at Nomads on Magnetic Island, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, I was struck by the unkempt state of the hostel.
The dormitory I was assigned to was warm and uncomfortable, dispite the old loud AC unit and the bedding provided looked worn. The bunk beds were loud and unsteady, which made it hard to relax. The bathrooms were another issue; they were poorly maintained. The girls showers were out of service. There was toliet paper and paper towel left all over the floor.
The atmosphere, which could have been vibrant and welcoming, was dampened by the lack of upkeep and the overall disorganization.
I had high hopes for my stay, given the beautiful location, but the neglected conditions of Nomads overshadowed the charm of Magnetic Island. I would not recommend this hostel unless significant improvements are made.

This hostel is beautiful with great bungalow dorms and amazing views. All the staff is really nice and helpful! Lily at reception helped us book a 3 Night Magnetic Island Escape Package, which made everything really easy. And Dave kept on it at the bar, helping us have a great getaway to Magnetic Island. Would definitely recommend to any travelers!!

Brilliant place to stay while on the island. Staff are very friendly, Ryan in particular! We stayed in a lovely private room which was perfect for us but also enjoyed the social side in the evening, with bingo and beer pong! Great overall vibe at the gaff
