Unique accommodation in the heart of the rainforest. The food here is delicious with the most amazing view from the restaurant and lodges . The staff are all super helpful and friendly. Our lodge was basic but comfortable with a brilliant view. All the trips taken with Black Rock lodge were really well organised and informative. This place was definitely one of our Belize highlights and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. They have their own farm with free range chickens, so you know the food is fresh. You can swim in the river next to the lodges and play on the rope swing. We stayed for three nights, but wish we had booked for longer as there is so much to see and do.

Great location for birds and other wildlife. Excellent food. Friendly staff. Even though it was July (rainy season) we had no problems with biting bugs and it was delightfully cool overnight. There is a lot of stuff to do in the area, and we had planned on going to Tikal in Guatemala, but we mostly chilled on site — plenty to do without spending more time in a car. This was our third Belizean eco- lodge and I’d rate it #2 (sorry, as great as this place is, my heart belongs to Lamanai lodge). Yay for the pool (and the river). Being able to book a massage was also a plus. Would definitely go back.

Would absolutely stay there again. Had cabin #15 which was private with a great view. Wouldn’t change a thing. The staff members are incredible and completely connected with the surrounding environment and wildlife. The owner has created such a wonderful and fulfilling environment for his team to flourish within. Loved the location! Three great hikes right from the lodge. Bird watching in the morning while eating breakfast. Never failed, the staff would find a toucan or eagle for us to watch.

Amazing service. Always on time. Phenomenal food. Henery was our guide and driver. He was extremely knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. Shout out to Emilker at the bar as well for his help.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at black rock. It truly met and exceeded expectations. If you are looking for nature and outdoor activities, this is the place to be. One of the highlights was the genuine warmth, friendliness, and service from not just one or two staff members-but from everyone! We felt very comfortable and all our needs were taken care of. We enjoyed leaning from Derrick and the other staff about the resident wildlife and completed a tour of xunantunich with Derrick, which was a great experience learning about Mayan culture. We also did ATM caves which was excellent. We booked our travel from the airport and to placencia through black rock, smooth and easy. The food at the lodge was very good and sitting on the deck in the lodge watching the birds while having coffee was unbeatable. Thank you to everyone at black rock for a fantastic stay!!!

I spent a long time thinking about it and it pains me slightly to have to downgrade my rating to 4, as we had a wonderful experience here. We stayed here for 4 nights on a tour of Guatemala and Belize. The lodge was great, the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were great. We only did one major activity, but the guided canoe trip down river with visit to the Botanical Garden at the end was the highlight of our trip. Don't miss the tubing experience. Even for a couple of OAPs it was great fun - the worst bit is the walk to the start. Now the buts. For a place as expensive as this is, I feel they are not paying enough attention to the hygiene factors. The food is fairly average at best. There is ample space for some comfortable seating in the common area, but there is none. There is no comfortable seating in the cabins, but there is room. There is no light in the bedroom which provides enough light to read a book.

We loved our 4 night stay at Black Rock Lodge. The location was stunning surrounded by the mountains and with the river. We woke up every morning to howler monkeys, toucans & Aguti visited our cabin everyday and a basilisk lizard lived near by. The daily actives were excellently organized and lots of options for every vacation style from relaxing to adventurous. The restaurant was delicious and the staff were all exceptions. Shout out to Merlin our waiter & Andy one of our guides ~ they both went above and beyond for us. Amazing bird watching from very corner! All the staff showed tons of pride to the lodge & the owner which made me feel even better about staying there.
