Bunyonyi Safaris Resort

My wife, our 3 children and I spent 4 nights at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort from 21st - 25th July 2015. I had been to Uganda several times before. However, this was my first time in Kabale and I was nervous about what to expect, especially as I had my family with me. We were initially put off by the surroundings as we were driving towards the resort. I immediately started planning how to shift our holidays before even reaching our final destination. From the moment we set foot in the sparkling clean and spacious lobby, Joseph (the site Manager) and his team gave us a very warm welcome. We were shown our respective rooms, all with a stunning view to Lake Bunyonyi. We really felt at home and decided to stay an extra night (we had initially booked 3 nights). Joseph suggested options of activities for the 4 days for us to chose from. We were taken around and discovered the hidden beauty of lake Bunyonyi area. As we were probably the only guests during our stay, everything was tailored to our wishes from boat riding on lake Bunyonyi to visiting a traditional black-smith to sauna and steam bathing in the chilly evenings, the staff went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable. At the end our stay, my family was extremely pleased. It felt as if we had been to a far land...yet we discovered this great hospitality was only about 112 km from Kigali, where we came from.

This was my first holiday back in Uganda with my two sons and girlfriend, My sons are aged 13 and 8 years and still talk about the experience as if it was yesterday. My youngest son tried the chef delicious "goats soup" and he tells everyone who bares to ask him about his trip to Uganda. We stayed in the main hotel for 4 nights and the rooms were spacious, clean and we all had a great nights sleep. During the day we took a trip to the Bushari Island, past the punishment island. Our guide was knowledgeable and narrated the story of how the young women who got pregnant were taken to the Island and abandoned to die. This story touched the heart of my sons especially the youngest 8 year old, who then asked why the men who made them pregnant were not also punished. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and always at hand to help us, we had fresh fruit juice and lovely food. The bar was well stocked with beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks. We found the best place to enjoy a quiet drink was the pavilion or grand right beside the lake. Here you get to soak in the beautiful unspoilt views of the lake Bunyonyi and the beautiful surrounding fauna and flora, without forgetting the local people getting on with their lives and the occasional swimmers. Kabale town is only 8km away and has all the you would need and is always bustling with activity. As a word of caution please take a warm jacket for the evening get quite chilly but that side there is always a roaring fire in the main hotel. All in all it is a beautiful place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Sitting on top of the building, the view into the lake is spectacular. The staff keep a constant check and supplies making you feel all the comfort of the heart. Keep up Bunyonyi Safaris Resort. Highly recommended for even big parties and conferences.

Meals were excellent, friendly staff, lovely views of lake Bunyonyi. Superb and comfortable rooms. Camp fire, sauna,steam,swimming were amazing. Boat cruise to the punishment island was my best experience!!! We can't wait coming back for Christmas

I was in Kabale Lake Bunyonyi with my Family, this Hotel is perfect for almost everything...The rooms were clean and spacious, and I liked the customer care and the food menu, to mention a few. I would recommend it for any function ...honeymoon, Family Holidays, solo

I was at Lake Bunyonyi safaris in mid-January and this was my second time though it had been a while and being the start of the year I guess there was minimal occupancy. A friend suggested this exquisite resort in Kabale and went for it. First of all, the orders took forever to be served even when there were a few guests. As if that wasn't enough later in the evening when we thought of retiring and freshening up, the water heater wasn't functioning and this was at around 10 pm. Now this is where my frustration began. I tried calling the reception for an alternative. I knew it was quite late and all I asked for was a bucket 🪣 or basin so I could boil water since there was a kettle I'm the room. To my surprise a staff who goes by the name Bill picked up while I narrated my situation and to my surprise he said there was nothing he could do since they had already closed and he couldn't check me in a room that had a functioning heater because his salary would be chopped or he wouldn't be paid. Please note that being a rainy season the location of the resort, it was pretty cold. Later this staff said that they had forgotten to turn on the water heater and so he had done so, so the water would be warm in a minute but still nothing. Short story he later found me a basin this is like after an hour and I boiled water to shower. Mind u this guy didn't even apologize for any inconvenience all he said was his supervisors would be mad at him if he checked me in another room that had a functioning heater or he wouldn't be paid. I went to bed when I was so mad and disappointed. Besides the poor service, bunyonyi Safari Resort has epic views of the lake at least from the room I had checked in. Otherwise, I am never going back to Bunyonyi Safari Resort like never.
