When we arrived at Maverick Rondavels we were shocked by the kind of accommodation. The hut was squeezed with a musty smell. The toilet and bathroom was a joke and nothing balanced on the makeshift table in the hut. The door to the hut could also not be locked properly. We were in the middle of nowhere and opted to persevere the 4 days stay but we were certainly not amused. I do not understand why the proprietor thinks this is a place tourists would want to stay. Please do not book this place. It's not value for your money. You will be disappointed.

It is definitely not the same what shows in the pics- absolutely not - sorry. We could not even gather courage to take our stuff out of our vehicle and after looking at the rooms we as family decided to drive an hour further and spent another $300 for Lake Nakuru and stayed there an extra night in Nakuru. We loved Nakuru. Please be ware before booking here… pics and ratings are extremely deceptive. I guess our tour company had no idea of how this place was - even our driver was shocked seeing this kind of a place for tourists by his tour company… well we have had our share of experience- just wanted to give people heads-up.

My first impression of Maverick was that it seemed overpriced for what you got. I understand the traditional idea behind the huts but they were just too basic. There was no mirror fitted in the room, no wardrobe or something similar to a wardrobe where you could put your things during your stay save for a wooden structure serving as shelves. You had to be careful not to put anything too heavy on it. Our luggage barely fit in the room and nothing balanced on the wobbly table. The bathroom cum toilet was also very squeezed. For a property that takes you a while to get there, I felt the management could do much better with the accommodation but still maintain that traditional hut idea. A holiday experience is a combination of great sites/views and good accomodation. Maverick in my opinion is lacking in the latter and feel it's better of as a campsite for nature lovers.
