Fig Tree Motel

I stayed at the Fig Tree motel a few years back on one of my motorbike trips. It was on a hot day, as on this visit. Then, as this time, the pool was also closed for "Maintenance". Probably just a coincidence. Other than that, I recall a comfortable stay, although I tend to be not overly fussy about accommodation when on the 'bike. This trip my partner and I were on a road trip in the car. It's weird, but accommodation expectations rise when travelling by car. We'd booked ahead, so check in was quick and easy. The room had digital security locks that worked well. The bed, at least, was clean and comfortable. We tried connecting to the wifi but got "No permission to access" on our phones and tablet. Not a big deal. We switched to mobile data. The air conditioner was an older in wall type and quite noisy by our standards, but OK, it did work. There was no kitchenette, although basics for tea & instant coffee and electric jug were available. We had some difficulty filling the jug with water, which could only be accomplished by transferring one cup of water at a time using the tap from the bathroom's small basin, into the jug. I.E. the jug could not be placed directly under the tap. After a good feed at the Ex-Servo's Club we got back to the room and tried to stream a movie. It went ok for awhile but about 20 minutes started severely buffering. Back to our phones and Chromecast. Then I went to the bathroom. I looked up, which perhaps I shouldn't have. Above the shower recess the trap from the toilet in the unit above was exposed. The ceiling had an interesting texture, probably from attempts to patch past water or sewerage damage. The real worry however was the trap pipe, which had some very suspicious brown stuff on it See Photo. I mentioned it to my partner. She looked, made some weird noises, muttering something like "we have to leave now". Showering, despite the very hot day, had become "not an option". After that we had difficulty sleeping, visions of brownish excrement hanging off the ceiling clouding our thinking. At four in the morning we decided to leave. I wrote an email to the motel's management pointing out our discomfort, suggesting a bit of compensation would be desirable. We had reached the Hay Plain when the manager called. She insisted "it is only a stain". I gave my opinion; stain or not, the vision of it above the shower wasn't a good look. To say the least. The conversation quickly took a nose dive, so it was ended. There has been no compensation. I can't recommend this place, but your mileage may vary.

The room was not as advertised and the front desk staff admitted to knowing that the online room advertisement was wrong. We booked expecting to have two rooms and this was not the case. All 3 beds were in the same room and was quite an inconvenience to us. There was also a lot of road noise and some loud guests who weren't managed. The walls were noticeably dirty and the carpet was very old. Overall a very average experience and would not stay again.

Great motel on hihhway vlose to shops etc. Very reasonably priced in fairly good condition.

Rooms are well appointed with space to move around. A great one night stopover motel. Beds were comfy. A great plus for the motel is being able to get a meal to your room and breakfast too. A good choice of food items, well presented and delicious

A very nice place to stay i give it a 9 out of ten Lovely people who run it good meals as well
