Hotel Plas Hyfryd

Disappointing. If you want to go, check what is available before you commit. We booked a hotel that had a restaurant with evening meals and the possibility of afternoon tea. Checking in on arrival we were told that there were no evening meals. If the hotel booked us into a local inn then we would get 5% off our meal. We did that only to be told at the end of our meal that as far as the inn was concerned the 5% reduction did not start until July. In addition the afternoon tea is now reduced to once or twice a month - thus not available to us as we were not there at the right time.

My husband and I have just had a 5 night stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. There was a wardrobe and plenty of drawers so ample storage. However, there was only 1 easy chair in a Double Room, which was a disappointment as there was enough room for another one. The bathroom was a decent size with a shower over the bath. The rain shower head and water pressure was excellent. When I booked the hotel in April, evening meals were available in the restaurant. When we arrived there we were told they no longer did evening meals. This was a disappointment to us as it meant going out to look elsewhere. However, we found there were plenty of places to eat a short 5 minute walk away. Our favourite place was in the Community Hwb where there were 4 different food stations. It was perfect. Narberth was a good base for us to explore all of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

This is unexpected quality for a 3* hotel. Well designed interior decoration maintained to a high standard. Extremely clean throughout with helpful and enthusiastic staff. We were a family group with four rooms. As well as breakfast we had drinks, dinner and held a function with buffet lunch. Breakfast is plentiful with local freshly cooked ingredients so it is a fairly leisurely meal. Well stocked bar with excellent coffee and a lovely outdoor terrace (when the weather cooperates). We were served dinner in the bar as there was a function in the dining room. Worked as only four of our group of eight were there but might have been difficult had we all been there. The following night there was no dinner available which was not a problem but it would have been helpful to have been told earlier. We, along with other guests, decamped to The Angel nearby which was excellent. Rooms are individually decorated and have mostly double beds and a small king size. Not ideal for our well above 6' men but ok for one night. I was in room 12, small but very comfortable with a shower over bath. Immaculate decoration, very clean but would benefit from a replacement mattress. Should I be in the area again this would be my first choice

Very comfortable family hotel with a great friendly welcome and fabulous breakfast. Would unreservedly recommend. The hotel is within easy walk of the town centre with a good range of shops pubs and restaurants. The room was great, clean and comfortable with views over the park opposite.
