I've been to Japan over a dozen times, but this is the first time I've been to a hotel like this. The moment I walked in, the room was humid. The shower water wouldn't drain! It was clogged in the bathroom drain. I washed my face, and the water flowed back into the bathroom, taking 20 minutes to drain. I turned on the air conditioner, and after five minutes, it started dripping... I reported it to the front desk, who brought a bucket and five rags to collect the water. The dripping continued all night until dawn. We had two rooms and asked if we could queue up next to each other, but the waitress said they were fully booked and couldn't queue together. We ended up with one on the east side and one on the west side. We said hello, and it took us 10 rooms to get to the room. I'm warning everyone: don't stay in room 506. It was a truly horrible experience. I had to wait until dawn, unable to get a good night's sleep. I left immediately! A hotel with no staff, and that room was horrible!
