We stayed in this hotel during two nights when travelling through New Zealand. The hotel is looking over Napier, beautiful view during breakfast. Walking down in itself is an experience, walking up even more (if you have the courage). Every corner of this large lodge breaths history and is unique, I believe not one piece of furniture is the same. Rooms and lodge very tidy, very spacious and well kept. Many common areas like the porch(es) garden, large library, kitchen…. Breakfast is made to order and of good homemade quality and good portions. Welcome with pot of coffee or tea and home made cookies, much appreciated. The host is very charming and knowledgeable about the history of the house, New-Zealand, the world and also the weather forecast :-) we liked the conversations we had with her. Only one “remark”: the wild birds can be noisy in the morning ;-) one specific one sang it’s song every morning around 6 LOL I can definitely recommend this lodge when in Napier and want to enjoy a more quiet location rather than the city center.
