Like the most was service which was excellent

My wife and I recently spent four nights at the Motel de la Mer in Napier and couldn't have been more impressed if had stayed at the Ritz. To begin with, we had booked a standard room, but when we arrived were upgraded to one of the two penthouse suites which were much larger than a standard room. The lady at the check in desk said it was not booked so we might as well have it. The hotel has a great location on the Marine Parade about ten minutes from the Art Deco section of Napier and five minutes from the aquarium. The walk to both is along the path that fronts the ocean and is very pleasant. The suite was well equipped for housekeeping and the guest laundry was free which was another pleasant surprise. In addition to the shower there was a spotlessly clean looking hot tub. The balcony was perfect for sitting out after dinner or for breakfast. The room had a list of preferred restaurants sorted by type, price and location and was very useful. Unlike many places these days, there was daily maid service which kept the rooms fresh. The TV had a subscription to Netflix which did not require signing in. There is onsite parking. All in all this is simply a great place to stay in Napier.
