GGuest UserEscape the Crowds! A Hidden Mountain Retreat near Nanjing, Nestled in a Bamboo Village
Huaji Wuxiang Mountain Retreat
🚗 Location:
To avoid the teeming crowds of Nanjing during the May Day holiday, we followed our car, 'Postal Kid,' through bamboo tunnels and discovered this 'living museum' deep within Wuxiang Mountain. Search for 'Huaji Wuxiang Mountain Retreat' (No. 14 Tangjia'an Village, Jingqiao Town, Lishui District). It's a direct 1-hour drive from the city center. Alternatively, you can take a high-speed train to Lishui Station, then a 30-minute taxi ride. The journey winds through bamboo-covered mountain roads, leading into a hidden paradise.
🏡 Hotel Design Style:
The designer's 'century-old village dream.' He spent a decade visiting over 100 ancient towns, recreating history with earth, wood, bricks, tiles, and stones. Old bricks and tiles, pine wood furniture, and pulp paper lamps, even the bamboo fences, all evoke a nostalgic 'sense of home.' The village feels a century old from the moment it was 'born.' Every casual photo here looks like a calming scene straight out of 'Little Forest.'
🌌 Hotel Features:
1. Starlight Cinema
Every evening, outdoor movies are shown in the village hotel's main square. As the screen lights up, fireflies dance in the grass. The mountain breeze makes it feel like returning to childhood alleys, with neighbors and guests watching films together and chatting like old friends.
2. Huaji Classroom
The academy regularly organizes small workshops, guiding children in making handicrafts and desserts. Neatly arranged wooden tables and chairs fill the room, with sunlight filtering in through carved gaps, creating a nostalgic feeling, as if transported back to beautiful childhood memories.
🍴 Mountain Dining:
There's a newly developed cultural and creative district nearby, but its restaurants close quite early, usually unable to take orders past 7 or 8 PM. The hotel restaurant, however, is open until 9 PM on holidays. The crayfish, beef, and farmhouse stir-fried chicken are all excellent and won't disappoint. Paired with a glass of homemade yellow wine, your taste buds will experience nature's bounty.
🥚 Breakfast Highlight:
The appetizers, especially the fried tangyuan, are truly unforgettable. Even the stir-fried shredded potatoes have a primitive, natural flavor. While the variety isn't huge (coffee, congee, milk, soy milk), the overall taste is top-notch.
📌 Tips:
Room Type Selection:
For families with children, the 'Muzuo' (Wooden Seat) suite is recommended. For girlfriends traveling together, the 'Wazuo' (Tile Seat) whole-house rental is a great choice.
Surprise Nearby ~ Huajian Cafe:
Located in a cultural and creative district south of Hanxia Flower Sea Cottage. A lush flower garden thrives outside the cafe. The interior design and decor are very thoughtful, making it a great spot for daydreaming and relaxing. The owner was already closing up just as the sun set, but the coffee tasted even better, savored just before closing.
A day at the mountain retreat feels like a slow journey, a rebirth of time. We returned to the city carrying the scent of pine, our bags filled with dried moonlight, and our footsteps whispering with moss.
