Fushi Beach Fenfushi

Getting there: Fly with FlyMe from Male to Maamigili. From Maamigili Waterfront 15 minutes boat transfer to Fenfushi Island - all well organized by Kristina and Hassan. He came personally to welcome and pick us up. Alternative: Speedboat transfer from Male Airport directly to Fenfushi Island. Cheaper and overall faster options, depending on weather conditions. Diving: The diving with Hassan is the best! That‘s why and what we came for. Has 30+ years of experience a as dive guide on the Maldives. Every day we went out with a Dhoni (traditonal maldivian boat) with a onboard toilet and little shower outside. Hassan and the crew were caring, providing water and food, such as coconut, dried tuna some times mashunni (typical maldivian dish; a ‚must try‘!) We were absolutly thrilled by all the beautiful dive sites we went to. We saw many sharks, Eagle Rays, Napoleon, big Stingrays and Tunas, and so many huge schools of fish. Even had our private Waleshark to dive with, were lucky to swimm with Dolphins and to snorkel with Mantas. The fish and the coral life is extraordinary. Just stunning! On the wreck dive we saw a frogfish and on one of the beautiful Thilas even two different Leaffish. On our last day diving the sharkes literally pilled up for us - or was it a shark parade? Anyhow, there were so many Gray Reefsharks and Wite Tip, we couldn’t count them. The Island & The Guest House: First Hassan brougth us to the Guest House „Vevu Villa Fenfushi“, where we had a friendly welcome with a wet towel to refresh after our journey and a fresh coconut to drink. „Vevu Villa Fenfushi“ is one of the few Guesthouses on the Island. It is a charming, quiet place in the middle of the Island and provides you with everything you need. Nice and clean rooms, simple but pleasant food (fresh fish every day with a choice of fried rice or noodles, curry or pasta). They have a garden with sundbeds and the staff is super friendly. We would definitely stay there again. After getting installed, Hassan showed us the Dive Center „Maldives Diving Loabi“ which Kristina and he are owning. It‘s a magical little paradise they have, right at the beach! You can see on first sight that it is run with a lot of passion and love. That’s also where the name is coming from: „loabi“ means love in maldivian. We strolled around the island with Hassan and he showed and explained us everything. How to get to the Bikini Beach, where you are allowed to swim with your bikini, the Sunset Point and also the best areas to snorkel. There are a few restaurants on the Island, we tried only one „Bable!‘“, which was exellent. We even went there twice. Try the Club Sandwiches and traditional Maldivian Food! In the evening especially when there ist a soccer game taking place, the island gets a little busier and louder. It‘s fun to watch the locals entertaining themselves. Vevu Villa Fenfushi is located on a small local island Fenfushi. There are only a couple of guesthouses and few tourists which gives you unique authentic experience. The villa is very comfortable, clean and new with minimalistic but tasteful design. The rooms have a double bed and a single bed making them suitable for families. The food is also good. The hosts Mauroof and Mohamed are super helpful and responsive. They answered every question I had especially on getting to Fenfushi and back. By the way a convenient and inexpensive way to get there is to take a scheduled speedboat Endheri Express from Mále to Dhigurah and then go to Fenfushi by a chartered boat arranged by the hosts (the whole trip takes about 2.5 hours). The beach on Fenfushi is amazing - long, sandy and beautiful. During low water you can walk a long sandbank (about 1 km) almost to the next island! Snorkeling is also great if you swim to the reef edge: you can see lots of fish and sometimes sharks. One evening a large turtle came out to the beach. Besides, you can go to a whale shark spotting excursion. We were not lucky to meet a whale shark but snorkled with giant mantas instead and that was breathtaking experience. On the villa you'll likely meet Hassan, a diving instructor. Hassan describes diving and local sealife in such vivid detail that it's impossible not to give it a try. During our dive we saw sharks a friendly turtle, moray eels and lots of other beautiful animals. I absolutely loved the place and returned there again after visiting another local island.

We really enjoyed our stay at Vevu Villa Fenfushi ! Place is super clean and friendly , breakfast and dinner were amazing (good chef). Every thing was great !! Mohamed the owner of the guest house can arrange everything that you want. He’s an amazing person, very helpful and very nice, very very very very nice !!! The stuff were super friendly so we felt like home The beach is located in 3-4 min walk from the hotel . Amazing beach really nice for snorkeling. . We were living there for 5 nights and we will come back for sure ! Vevu Villa house guest is some special place which will make you to feel relaxed and happy :). Positive people around the island. Loved it. Everyone is so friendly welcoming and ready to help in this Island.
