The hotel is right in front of the bus stop "Qingliu Entrance". I stayed there for two days in a row. The meals were different, and I felt that the dinner on the second day was more appetizing. You can also choose buffet lunch for breakfast.

It was better than expected. The surrounding environment of the hotel is so beautiful and the dinner was delicious. The room is clean and hygienic, and there are three public open-air hot springs♨️

The place is on the outskirts of Shima Onsen, but that's even better - not a lot of other tourists even during the peak period. The food is great. The hot baths are also great - a little hotter in "private" baths, a little less hot in the public ones. Not the best view from the "private" baths, but okay one, I guess. Surprisingly good English-speaking staff (at least the guy that checked us in, Andrew, probably the best-speaking japanese guy we've met this trip :)) Oh, and I forgot - it's tattoo friendly, which is just great

Kashiwaya Ryokan was an absolute highlight of our Japan holiday. The staff were amazing, the food is 100 out of 10, the Onsens are private and exhilarating, the rooms were very clean and well appointed. When we were there we experienced snow and beautiful sunshine. Special staff mentions to Hitomi who arranged our bike ride to the lake and Andrew for his warm welcome. We would highly recommend Shima Onsen and staying at Kashiwaya Ryokan.

I really enjoyed my stay at Kashiwaya Ryokan. Although it was long to get to without a car, it was worth the travel. The 2 days there didn’t feel like it was enough time. I will return again for sure. The room was comfortable, the private onsen were beautiful and amazing. The kaiseki served at dinner were delicious and perfectly balanced. The traditional Japanese breakfast (there were Western styled breakfast and brunch at the cafe in Shima Onsen town) was incredible as well. I want to thank the dedicated staff members I interacted with during my stay. They were kind and patient. I don’t recall all their names but I want to thank Hitomi, Yuho and Andrew for their help. I will recommend this ryokan to my friends.
