This was our third visit to Kabini and as soon as we arrived, we knew it was going to be as pleasurable as on previous occasions. We stayed for three nights in MP6, which meant we could relax on the veranda, overlooking the lake. Both jeep and boat safaris were rewarding. On our first jeep safari we watched a pair of “courting” leopards relaxing in a tree, whilst later safaris gave us good sightings of tigers (more than once, plus cubs), otters, jackal, and dhole (Indian wild dogs). The quality of guiding is variable – if you’re lucky, you’ll get JP, whose knowledge of the animals and birdlife is excellent. Also worth mentioning is “Capt” Krishna, who, if like us, you tell him you’re interested in the birdlife, is very helpful when you go on a boat safari. The accommodation is comfortable and the quality of food is very acceptable. We never left the table feeling hungry. We also enjoyed a sundowner in the bar. We are already planning our return.
