A Sweaty Nightmare at the Twilight Surf Motel If you’re looking for an overpriced sauna disguised as a motel room, then by all means, book at the Twilight Surf Motel on Ocean Blvd South in Myrtle Beach. My experience here was nothing short of frustrating, insulting, and downright miserable. After checking in and paying a steep $149 for a single night, I expected at the very least a functioning air conditioner. Within the first hour, it became clear that the unit—set at a frigid 62 degrees—was incapable of pushing out anything close to cold air. Instead of cool relief, I was left sitting motionless in front of the TV, sweating profusely, waiting for the oppressive heat to break. I went to the office to report the issue. They assured me someone would be down to check it out. Two hours passed. Nobody ever came. When I returned, I was lied to—told that maintenance had already checked and said it was fine. That never happened. A woman from the office eventually came, unplugged the unit, rinsed the filter, pressed some buttons, and told me not to change the settings. Predictably, nothing improved. Two and a half more hours later, I complained again. This time a man came—but not before gathering a trail of three young men who seemed far more interested in discussing shady business with him than in addressing my concern. When he finally made it to my room, he declared it “felt fine.” Fine? Sitting in sweat-soaked clothes in a room that felt like a steam bath? Absolutely insulting. My friend then stepped in to speak with the owner, explaining that this was unacceptable—not asking for a refund, just requesting another room if the issue couldn’t be fixed. Instead of professionalism, the owner vanished into the back and reemerged carrying a cheap stand-up fan, muttering, “This will help.” Help? I didn’t pay $149 to sleep in front of a bargain-bin fan while pretending I was in the tropics. The lack of hospitality, accountability, and basic honesty here is astounding. The room wasn’t up to par to begin with, and the air conditioning debacle made it unbearable. Save yourself the headache. Save your money. No one was there for me to check in, granted it was late but NO ONE WAS THERE FOR ME TO CHECK IN. I had to spend the night at a different place the first night. Got locked out of my room 3rd night. No one was at the front until called by security.

Property was filthy, room was dirty when arriving, balcony door lock was broken, pool was full of bugs, also had other guests enter our hotel room, twice because they were given the same room and keys.

It's an okay place We stayed two nights, in two different rooms. When we checked in we went to our room, walked in and it was already someone else's room 😂 no biggie for us, we know mistakes happen. The first night in the first room there was a lot of moisture in the air, even the bed and pillows felt wet. The next morning I discovered mold on the pillow I had slept on and mold all on the wall and floor. The second room was good! It could have been cleaned better but it was good enough. The front desk staff is super nice, let us check in early. Police were there 5 different times in the 2 days we were there. There are some questionable people around there.

So basically, I was just at this motel… YESTERDAY. As soon as me and my father got to this place, I instantly felt a bad feeling in my stomach, and I rarely say I don’t feel comfortable staying in a hotel… or in this case motel, because every last person there was smoking even though it says no alcohol or what not outside the “front office”. But my dad tried to reassure me… UNTIL WE GOT TO THE ROOM. I left all my stuff in our car when we got out to go inside (except for my watch) and then the moment we opened the door it instantly smelled like mold, there was mold on the door, and it overall looked low quality as everything. I’m not gonna keep ranting, but it was $200 just for 2 people to stay in this low quality place. This is my warning to all to read reviews and find photos before you book a place, because we ended up going back home the SAME DAY so as I’m writing this, I’m half asleep. I feel bad for any normal person and their potential family who book this place because they give no refunds.

Never again The rooms were terrible. Floors was dirty. We were put in a room with an unclean stove. The manger made it right tho.
