Holiday Sands South

My check in person was nice and helpful but the other lady on other side of desk was really loud and kept yelling the same thing over and over made it hard to hear anything. The things she was yelling were not appropriate. Rest of the staff I come across during stay were exceptional. Room needed some work not fully cleaned. One of my members said it felt like something was crawling onbthem and biting them in the bed. Under night stand and parts of floor was dirty, hair clogged in drain .Light switch in bathroom was broken. But location is great. Amenities were great.

We have been staying here for years. The staff is friendly and the views are amazing. I feel safe here even in n the parking garage which is well lit. The house cleaners are always bringing fresh towels and other items you may need. The price is great and the discounts depending on how long you stay make it perfect.

Although I will leave a more in-depth review after checkout, this is the first and only time I've ever felt the need to leave any negative review, especially during the stay itself. Which is really surprising, as I have stayed in over 110 motels or hotels in my life, and this will be the first negative review. That in itself is more than revealing. The number one complaint- the noise from an adjoining room is louder than we have ever experienced during a motel stay. The first 3 days there was no complaint in this regard as the four teenagers in the adjacent room were relatively quiet. After they left, a family moved in with at least four young children, possibly five. But the desire or willingness of the parents to keep the noise level down due to staying in a motel was atrocious. Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday and continuing throughout the day we could clearly hear screams, shouts, tantrums, arguments, even one between the parents. We were unable to sleep beyond 6:00 a.m., and our several attempts to take naps were fruitless. We called the front desk no less than three times to ask if they would call the room and tell them to quiet down. We did not receive any confirmation that they did so, and the noise continued without ceasing. This is not to say that there are no positives about the room we are in. It is rather spacious, internet reception is decent, and the elevators fast. But, among several other issues, the kitchen light only works intermittently, despite a call for maintenance to come and take a look. They never came. Well, too many other issues to mention in this review.

We have stayed in condo building several times this is far most worst time room 201 condo. Very out dated furniture holes in walls, fridge was rusty on the inside, dishes still dirty in cabinets dirty carpet.

There were bed bugs! I spent a week there (5 days through Booking and another two through the hotel) from April 18th to 25th in room 812. Close to the end of my stay, I started noticing clusters of bites on my stomach, but didn't really think much of it. I changed my flight to stay another night with friends at the resort next door, and someone in their party is a medical professional. When she saw the 3 HUGE clusters of bites on my stomach, she IMMEDIATELY recognized the bites as BED BUG bites. Having just checked out the day before, I woke up bright and early and went to Holiday Sands to find out if there were bugs in the room and what to do to make sure I didn't bring them back home to NYC. When I got to the front desk, I CALMLY explained to the woman that I thought my room had been infested and could they check. She shushed me so no one could hear (which I understood). I explained that I didn't want to embarrass them because I know that these things happen with travelers coming through. The manager, and elderly man named Mike, explained that the room was occupied again and that they couldn't check until the next day. I was returning home that day so I gave him my number, and he ASSURED me that he would call me the next day to update me on his findings. I returned home, and wrapped my suitcase and carryon in garbage bags and taped them as was recommended online, waiting for his call. The next day, I didn't hear from Mike, so in the afternoon I called. They said he was in a meeting and would call me back. He didn't. The next day, I called again, and he was also unavailable. I tried calling 3 days in a row, before giving up. Then I threw away my luggage and washed and dried my expensive DESIGNER clothes on the hottest settings because that was recommended online. Of course they all shrunk! Then I purchased spray and bedbug detection kits on Amazon in case I had brought them home. So far so good after a few months, NO THANKS to the staff at Holiday Sands!

Just spent Christmas week 2024 at this hotel to be with family who live in the area. We have stayed at their North end hotel many times over the years. The hotel is older; it has been in this spot since I began coming to Myrtle Beach in the early eighties. The condo building next door was built in the nineties. I don't choose hotels for their decor. I want clean, quiet and attentive staff and I got that at this location. Housekeeping was at our door daily...even on Christmas Day...to make sure we had everything we needed. On Google, many people commented staff was unfriendly. That was not my experience. Professional and pleasant, they accommodated any request I had during my stay. My room was very clean and we had hot water anytime we turned on the tap. We had a side ocean view room and had no problems sitting on our balcony with our beach view. Yes, kitchen appliances are old, room furniture is old and outdated. So is the furniture in my home...again, not choosing a place for the decor. It was comfortable and other than some occasional noise in the hallway from kids going to and coming from their room, I never heard my neighbors. Bedding was clean, towels were blindingly white. The hotel is located near the end of Ocean Blvd which puts it very near Market Commons and all the shopping and restaurants. For any fisherman interested, Springmaid Pier, 2nd Ave pier and the pier at the state park are close by. The hotel shares amenities with the condo building, so there are pools, a lazy river and kiddie splash pads available. The hotel has a restaurant that unfortunately had closed for the season but will reopen in Feb 2025. I have read and heard many good reviews about it. Beach access is between the buildings. We had a great week and this will be our go to spot as long as they keep prices reasonable for my budget. The only complaint I have and it is very minor but the WiFi reception is terrible. I solved the problem with my phone by disconnecting and using LTE but my husband had brought our laptop to use for personal business and was unable to do much because of how slow the connection was. Personally, I saw this as a cue to disconnect but others may not be as willing as I was to step away for a week
