B&B Castanea

I had heard many good things about Villa Castanea and its nice owners, Nina and Andrej, even before we arrived, but what we found here was even far more impressive than other guests' descriptions. The Villa is an outstanding example of old bourgeois architecture, restored with an eye for tradition. All the rooms are unique, spotless and the beds are extremely comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful, with a good selection of local producers. Everything was just perfect.

Such a lovely property--the balcony is so relaxing. Rooms are wonderfully appointed and enjoyed our conversations with the owner. He was so helpful and interesting to chat with. This is truly a place to relax and enjoy in the small town of Kostanjevica na Krki. We had a wonderful stay! A gem in southeastern Slovenia--both Vila Castanea and the town.

The location of the hotel is truly something out of a fairytale - nestled on the enchanting river island Kostanjevica in the breathtaking Dolenjska region. Housed in an old farmhouse, the preservation and renovation of the property have created an atmosphere of luxury while retaining its authentic charm. The rooms are a haven of comfort, offering everything one could need during their stay. We especially adore the two rooms with private balconies, providing stunning views of the surroundings. It's a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island. Now, let me rave about the highlight of our stay - breakfast! Andrej personally curates every item, and it's evident that a lot of thought and care go into its preparation. The breakfast is not just a meal; it's an experience! Andrej's dedication to serving only the best shines through in every bite. And that's not all; evenings at the hotel are a delightful affair thanks to Andrej and Nina. Andrej's knowledge of Slovenian wines is remarkable, and he enthusiastically introduces guests to a variety of delectable options. The homemade cold cuts are simply divine and pair perfectly with the wines. Every time we have the opportunity to reserve a stay at this wonderful establishment, we do so without hesitation. The overall experience, the warm hospitality of the owners, and the unforgettable meals make each visit a cherished memory. If you find yourself in the neighborhood or plan to visit Dolenjska, I cannot recommend Hotel highly enough. It's not just a place to stay; it's an immersion into the heart of Slovenia's charm and hospitality. We can't wait to return for many more years to come!

A beautiful hotel, perfect for a relaxing romantic or family getaway. The host was incredibly helpful at helping us rent a canoe and showing us the best places to see and what to do in Kostanjevica. The room was spotless, as was the whole hotel and the breakfast was amazing.

We stayed at Hotel Castanea for a few days during the warmest time of the year, and we can fully attest that the air-condition works even under such circumstances. It was a wonderful trip, relaxing and fun. And the hotel facilities were perfect, the breakfast was locally sourced and delicious and the service was truly impeccable.
