The Royal Hotel

We went to our local nearest restaurant The Royal and ordered a family meal. Upon serving of the starters, namely the King Prawn dish, around half way through consumption of this I found a hair which I pulled out of my mouth. Having informed the waiter of this I asked to speak to the Manager, Kenny who works in the kitchen as Head Chef. His mannerism, approach and lack of resolution to the situation was far from what I expected. Having advised he doesn’t have long hair and none of his team?! He basically asked if I had people at the table who have long hair, which I did, and said maybe they cuddled and it had ended up in the dish… we cancelled the mains and paid the bill which might I add they never removed the KP dish from the bill either. Personally if you want a good meal go elsewhere. Very poor and bad experience after so many years of visiting!!!

Stayed 4 nights 18th to 22nd july and it was immediately welcoming, they have great staff all were friendly and helpful, particularly Kyle who greated me and carried my luggage without hesitation, Phillip who acknowledged me walking into the bar one evening which when your a lone woman means alot, Nat in the dining room at breakfast and Sunday lunch so nice and hard working. The room was nice pillows excellent very pleasant experience can highly reccomend.

For £167 B&B, this was decidedly not a 4* experience. It was functional , the room was fine with a comfortable sleep but the hotel itself was tired and very average. Of particular note was the breakfast in a ballroom with stained, old carpet and dirty dance floor just cooked breakfast, packet cereals and toast, no croissant, only sugary yoghurt, no summer fruits, no ham or cheeses. Then while the room was fine, it overlooked a huge tarmac car park with no landscaping at all, just some very tasteless plastic flowers at the entrance. The dinner was OK, but the menu a little limited and overdone.

We stayed in another property in mundesley and went here for dinner. The couole running the restaurant, not sure if theyre the owners or not, were the most miserable looking people ive seen. Seemed a chore for them that we were ordering dinner and service was definately not with a smile! Very average food, wouldn't say its worth the price at all. Had considered staying here for the location next year but after the dinner visit we definitely wont be!

Carvery was average absolutely no atmosphere and bar felt very uncomfortable with lots of youngsters. Staff were abrupt and not at all friendly. £15.95 per person plus £6.95 for a small dessert. Can’t really say much more about it! Wouldn’t recommend although it was recommended to us 🤷‍♀️
