SPRING SEASON HOTEL

The room is relatively small, but the facilities are complete and clean. The location is relatively remote, there is a night market nearby, which is a bit far to walk. The price/performance ratio is OK.

the hotel has 2 wings, the main 3 storey building with your regular rooms with lift access, and the other wing made up of stacked containers. I stayed in the 3rd of the main building & attended a training at the container wing in its meeting room big enough to seat 40 pax classroom style. The training room is at the 2nd floor accessible only by stairs which is quite an inconvenience especially where you have huge baggage to lug on. The down side is that this place do NOT have a dining place and therefore no breakfast provided. My room is clean and come with toiletries, there's hot/cold water dispensers at the lift landing on every floor, very efficient. However, it can be noisy at night especially from the traffic & some bar/pub nearby, which I cannot determine the source of the loud music. There's this place with it's own gated parking lot about 200m from this hotel that house another budget hotel & some restaurants/cafes, therefore food/drinks is not an issue.
Classic Hotel

It is situated in the middle of the town of Muar. The halls are surprisingly big & the room is pleasantly VERY spacious! The comfortable spaciousness of the room would be ideal for a large family esp with small kids. In addition, it has a bath tub!!! That can keep the kids occupied & happy! It can also be heavenly after a long day. The water pressure is also a relief to massage any fatigue away. The bed and pillows are very comfortable (to me) & I had a good night’s sleep. It is very convenient because it is connected to a shopping mall which has a supermarket, fast food chains (Texas Chicken, McDonald’s & Sushi King), Coffee Bean! Large drug stores (Watson & Guardian)And even book stores (Popular & Tanjong Mas) if you forgot to bring a book incase you want a day/night-in instead. My son forgot to pack his toothbrush and hence we just went next door to buy him one. A convenient store (7-Eleven) and clinics are just a short walking distance away. Local cuisine restaurants are also a short walking distance away hence the convenience. On the downside though, Since the mall is beside the hotel, they share the same basement parking. You have to use the staircase to go to the hotel or be Very Patient to wait for the ONE 4 people lift to the ground floor of the mall, then turn left to the entrance of the mall to proceed to the hotel next door. The lobby is also not your typical hotel lobby as well. Upon entering through the glass double door (which shares with a cafe & restaurant so don’t be confused) you will come upon a concierge table (when I arrived no one was present though), there are two lifts, so you need to go to the FIRST floor to the receptionist counter (hotel lobby). I have to warn you earlier, its not a typical proper hotel lobby though, it shares the same area with the hotel cafe😄, so don’t be too shocked. Fortunately, The staff is very friendly and helpful making the checking-in process pleasant. It seems to be quite an old hotel, hence do not expect it to be immaculate and in perfect condition. Depending on where your room is at, do not expect a beautiful scenery of the town (depends on what your definition of ‘beautiful’ is though). Carpet seems to be quite old. You may face some issues with the toilet flush; got me worried about it in the beginning until I got the hang of it. When I entered my room, the bed was not neat and properly made which caused me to raise my eyebrows. Found the note and pencil at the bedside table, probably used by the previous guest. Hence I dare say the house-keeping should be improved or properly trained. There is a limited number of socket plugs, only 3; one at the coffee table, 2 at the desk but even those are supposedly used for the desk and floor lamps. None at the bedside table. Hence, you need to bring your own extension cable or multiple socket plug perhaps. Not really liking the bedside lights as you need to quite struggle to switch it on while lying down on the bed when you wake up in the middle

Newly renovated hotel and is near to the city area. However, there is no mention that the small little room has no window and the rate is much higher than nearby hotels.
Muo Boutique Hotels

I was on a 3 days trip here in Muar, which I had stayed a night each at MUO Resort and MUO Boutique Hotel. Both properties are managed by the same company. To compare, Muo Boutique Hotel is very much town-centric. On the other hand, Muo Resort is more rustic and geared towards the outdoors with a farm house setting (Read my other review on MUO Resort). MUO Boutique Hotel is refurbished from an old shophouse building. Whilst the facade is conserved, its interior is overhauled and decorated into a contemporary space outfitted in retro décor, with nods to the town’s heritage and creative community. At the lobby and hotel corridors, you will notice an assortment of retro paraphernalia — Old TV sets, radios and antique lamps, which is a throwback to the nostalgic years. Opened in 2017, the 24-room hotel offers rooms that are located from the first to the third level (British setting). I had booked a Deluxe Twin Room (No. 204) and was accommodated on the second level. The room offers a view of the Muar River, though obstructed by buildings and trees. While it also faces the road, traffic noise is kept to a minimum with its double pane windows. Although the room measures 15 square metres, it offers all the comfort of the stay. The bathroom is of acceptable size, though there is no partition at the showering area. This resulted in the bathroom floor being wet after each shower. Fortunately it dries up rather quickly. Part of the bathroom is covered with frosted glass, but privacy is ensured. The showering experience is enhanced with a rain shower fitting. The shower pressure is good and the bath towel is both thick and fluffy. Entertainment is limited to local channels and a couple of Cable TV channels such as Aljazzera, CCTV4, Astro Supersport. The Wi-Fi connectivity in the room is good. The amenities in the room include shower gel, shampoo and hair dryer. There are no dental kit, mini fridge and electronic safe. A kettle is provided to make fruit tea, a nice Muar beverage choice offered by the hotel. Although there is no food and beverage outlet in the hotel, you can find plenty of eateries serving local food that are within walking distance. There are also a 7-Eleven and foreign exchange service nearby. Overall, MUO Boutique Hotel is a good accommodation choice in Muar. Its strategic location makes it convenient for travellers who want to stay near the bus terminal (Bentayan Muar Terminal), the various attraction sites and popular food spots. As a guide, these are the walking distances from the hotel to the following places: - Muar Street Art - 200m - Wetex Parade (Shopping mall) - 400m - Glutton Food Street - 650m - Bentayan Muar Terminal - 750m - Muar Cultural Walk - 800m If you are searching for a nice looking Instagrammable hotel located in the town centre, look no further.
