Property Description
Do you want to live right in the heart of Acadia in a historic Maine “summer cottage” but still have the modern conveniences of ensuite bathrooms, Subzero appliances, separate water closets, his and her showers and designer decorating? Look no further than Passage West. Pristinely renovated with mint appliances and plumbing, including Waterworks bathrooms and featuring luxurious Matouk linens and robes throughout, Passage West is the perfect summer getaway for those who appreciate nature and love the outdoors but want to have the epitome of modern luxury for their summer vacation.
Unique in Seal Harbor, Passage West is a truly special place, ideal for those who appreciate historic homes, authentic to its 1920 design while updated with all the conveniences of the 21st century.
Situated on prestigious Ox Hill in Seal Harbor, and only 0.3 miles from Seal Harbor Beach, and less than a mile from the entrance to Acadia National Park, the home is perfect for biking, hiking, and kayaking on the ocean. Rental homes are hard to come by in this exclusive neighborhood as most summer residents stay and return year after year. This shingle style 1922 home has been completely restored and renovated, sparing no expense to maintain the prewar charm while updating the home with every modern comfort and convenience. The home faces south over the Eastern Way to Sutton and the Cranberry Isles, and west over the mouth of charming Seal Harbor with its library, yacht club, and harbor teeming with picturesque sailboats. There are spectacular water views from almost every room.
The home features a living room, dining room, family room, eat in kitchen, pantry, 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, and multiple porches. Decorated by interior design firm Davis Designs (www.davisdesigns.com), the home has been featured in interior publications. Live in complete comfort while being a stone’s throw from acclaimed Acadia National Park.
Ride to the carriage trails from your front door or access every hiking trail within a 5 minute drive. The only sandy beach open to the public on Mount Dessert Island is within viewing distance from your front porch. Or just relax in the sunny screened in sun porch or any one of the multiple open-air porches and decks and breathe in the fresh ocean air and gorgeous uninterrupted views over the ocean.
** Note: The house has 6 bedrooms but we do not allow more than 5 adults to share the home. There are two primary bedrooms with gorgeous primary bathrooms, so the house is perfect for two families looking to share a vacation home. The other bedrooms are twin beds or full size beds and we do not allow those beds to be pushed together. We do not allow "share" houses or girls weekends or bachelor/bachelorette weekends.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. This home is a quintessential Maine estate in Seal Harbor, elegant, peaceful, and beautifully restored. Each room was thoughtfully designed with incredible attention to detail, and the house had every amenity we could have possibly needed. We had a truly wonderful trip and only wish we could have stayed longer!! We cannot recommend this property enough and hope to return someday.

3 generation family trip to Maine
The house was gorgeous! So many fantastic amenities (we were particularly fond of the ice maker), the furniture was comfortable & beautiful, the views from the various decks & porches were great. We couldn’t have been happier or more satisfied with the house. You can tell the owners take great pride in it, and have put a lot of time & effort into making a house you’ll feel comfortable & relaxed in. The location is within walking distance of a lovely beach & literally right around the corner from an entrance into Acadia National Park. We can’t recommend the house enough! Thank you for sharing it with us, Kate!

Family Fall Getaway
This property is truly exceptional. Our family loved the thoughtful details, the stunning location, and the incredible views. During our 3-night stay, we walked to the beach and biked into Acadia National Park. We made the most of family meals, relaxed on the outdoor decks, and appreciated the peaceful setting. One night, the power went out in the area, and the home's generator seamlessly kicked in, which really impressed us! This home was the highlight of our family vacation, and we are already dreaming of returning soon.
