Forget what they say about a decadent breakfast delivered to room daily. There is no breakfast at all. Instead they give you a voucher to go to a cafe a few kilometers up the road. Not exactly what you want on a cold and wet day. No daily ho8use keeping at all and never anyone in reception. The carpark was a mudpit. The water tastes digusting with the managers excuse its the tanins from the leaves in the gutters which the water is collected. When you fill the spa bath it looks like a cup of tea with the stained water. Only half of the lights worked and no waterfall working in the plunge pool. Again the manager blamed a storm that happened 7 months ago. There is no shelter from the elements on either the balcony or courtyard. Just hard wire type seats and a 1 old plastic bananna lounge. The entertainment system all worked off one remote control which was a torture to get to work with a poor quality projector beaming onto the wall for the TV. The main bedroom had a TV with a screen the sized of my PC screen with little channel reception. The bed had a large lump running the full length og the bed. The fireplace couldnt be lit due to the wet wood supplied. Never again. I have stayed in most places at Tamborine Mountain and never have come across the disgusting water problem.

This place is amazing, we were blown away with how beautiful it is. It had everything you needed and made us feel like we were in a real castle. The complementary breakfast vouchers came in very useful at Spice Of Life Cafe which was also amazing. The owner was so helpful, we will definitely be back in the future.

Was a little hesitant to visit tamborine mt after hearing about the storms over xmas. when driving up the mt could see the aftermath and houses taken out. When we arrived we were surprised how beautiful the gardens were. Our room was amazing! My girlfriend loved the big spa and attention to detail and I loved the heated pool. Also private cinema!! Yummy bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge also breakfast and some tastings at the winery up the road were a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the bubbles watching the sun set. The manager gave us some local recommendations which was helpful. We now have a new favorite getaway!!!

This was such an unique experience. Loved the whole idea of staying at a castle even if it wasn’t a true castle. Loved having our own private plunge pool, spa bath, double shower, sunken lounge room and mini cinema. But it was the little things that made it an amazing experience. Complimentary bubbles, chocolates, 3 types of leaf tea, bottled water, vouchers for wine and distillery tastings. Only thing stopping a 5/5 was that we were given breakfast vouchers to other restaurants when we though breakfast included meant it was on location.

Just like the last review I read on this website, our stay at the Castle on Tamborine was a mixed bag. The positives: - The place was beautiful! We stayed in the wing with the 4 poster bed. The grounds are very well kept and I think if you visited later in spring, the flowers would be even more amazing! The front door key was cool (skeleton style key) and the interior decorating was beautifully done with Roman/castle inspiration. The carpet had either been cleaned or replaced since the last review and was a lovely, plush, medium blue. - The double shower had no issues with water pressure when both were in use. - The spa tub can fit two average sized adults (we're a bit plus size so it only fit one of us at a time) - The kitchen was adequately equipped to handle reasonable meals (nothing fancy). - The private plunge pool is AMAZING. It wasn't initially heated, but that was quickly remedied and it was easily the best part of the accommodation. - The fireplace already had a fire prebuilt and gave off a good amount of heat, even from across the room. - The AC upstairs was functional. - The location was easy to find (even in the dark) and located VERY close to the touristy Gallery Walk and the main ***** of normal stores and evening restaurants. There's even a petrol station that was reasonably priced. The negatives - There was no WiFi. It's advertised as being provided, but was undetectable on any of our 4 devices, even when standing in reception. We were advised that WiFi on the mountain could be "hit and miss", but no network even being detected at any time during our 3 day stay, even by the accommodation's own devices was pretty telling that it may not be provided. - As there was no connection to WiFi, there was also no useable aerial or network/provider for the television nor projector. If you don't bring your own HDMI cord/device with pre downloaded movies, tether yourself to mobile WiFi, etc, you go without or rent DVD/Blurays from reception at 2 for $10. *Feedback was given about the WiFi etc, but nothing was done.* - The water smells quite metallic (as mentioned in the previous review) and tastes worse. Definitely recommend buying/bringing bottled water for drinking. I came out of my spa bath smelling like a new car. - The upstairs AC is very loud if used at night. - There is quite a bit of noise from the nearby main road that is more noticeable at night. - There is no closable door on the only toilet that is in the ensuite bathroom. - There is no oven in the kitchen. - The food - which I was excited about after reading reviews on this site was average, at best. The use of balsamic vinegar as a base to every main course for breakfast was quite off-putting and dishes were overly sweet - even to our highly sweet tooth tastes. An example was oatmeal with caramelised bananas, absolutely drowned in watery maple syrup. On one of the days, we resorted to eating left over pizza from the night before. - The fridge was mostly taken up by contents
