Just like the last review I read on this website, our stay at the Castle on Tamborine was a mixed bag. The positives: - The place was beautiful! We stayed in the wing with the 4 poster bed. The grounds are very well kept and I think if you visited later in spring, the flowers would be even more amazing! The front door key was cool (skeleton style key) and the interior decorating was beautifully done with Roman/castle inspiration. The carpet had either been cleaned or replaced since the last review and was a lovely, plush, medium blue. - The double shower had no issues with water pressure when both were in use. - The spa tub can fit two average sized adults (we're a bit plus size so it only fit one of us at a time) - The kitchen was adequately equipped to handle reasonable meals (nothing fancy). - The private plunge pool is AMAZING. It wasn't initially heated, but that was quickly remedied and it was easily the best part of the accommodation. - The fireplace already had a fire prebuilt and gave off a good amount of heat, even from across the room. - The AC upstairs was functional. - The location was easy to find (even in the dark) and located VERY close to the touristy Gallery Walk and the main ***** of normal stores and evening restaurants. There's even a petrol station that was reasonably priced. The negatives - There was no WiFi. It's advertised as being provided, but was undetectable on any of our 4 devices, even when standing in reception. We were advised that WiFi on the mountain could be "hit and miss", but no network even being detected at any time during our 3 day stay, even by the accommodation's own devices was pretty telling that it may not be provided. - As there was no connection to WiFi, there was also no useable aerial or network/provider for the television nor projector. If you don't bring your own HDMI cord/device with pre downloaded movies, tether yourself to mobile WiFi, etc, you go without or rent DVD/Blurays from reception at 2 for $10. *Feedback was given about the WiFi etc, but nothing was done.* - The water smells quite metallic (as mentioned in the previous review) and tastes worse. Definitely recommend buying/bringing bottled water for drinking. I came out of my spa bath smelling like a new car. - The upstairs AC is very loud if used at night. - There is quite a bit of noise from the nearby main road that is more noticeable at night. - There is no closable door on the only toilet that is in the ensuite bathroom. - There is no oven in the kitchen. - The food - which I was excited about after reading reviews on this site was average, at best. The use of balsamic vinegar as a base to every main course for breakfast was quite off-putting and dishes were overly sweet - even to our highly sweet tooth tastes. An example was oatmeal with caramelised bananas, absolutely drowned in watery maple syrup. On one of the days, we resorted to eating left over pizza from the night before. - The fridge was mostly taken up by contents
